Utility Technician
Cleans and services facility vehicles, other vehicles and related service areas; operates buses for servicing and maintenance purposes; practices safe work processes and contributes to the creation and maintenance of a safe working environment for self and others; and performs related work as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sweeps, mops, steams, scrapes and washes the interior and exterior of buses
- Sweeps and mops garage floors, pits, parking lots, and service areas
- Lifts, moves and dumps trash containers; cleans maintenance office and storage rooms
- Performs daily visual vehicle inspection and reporting defects
- Makes non-mechanical road calls
- Checks and replaces consumables and equipment as necessary
- Checks engine fluids, refilling as needed
- Drives buses between District locations
- Operates revenue collection equipment
- Safely operates a variety of equipment, including forklift, ground scrubber/sweeper, and upholstery cleaning equipment
- Installs and replaces vandal guards
- Places and replaces filers and advertisements in buses
- Other duties as assigned or apparent
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License
- MUST have six months of full-time related work
- MUST be available to work varying shifts to include days, nights, weekends and holidays. • MUST be able to pass physical agility tests with no limitations on upper or lower back.
- MUST be able to walk, kneel, bend, push and/or pull to complete moderate to heavy lifting when necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
