This is more than a custodial position — it’s an opportunity to lead a team, maintain high facility standards, coordinate daily operations, and help create an environment where children, families, members, and staff feel welcome and safe.

Working under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Custodial Coordinator provides day-to-day leadership for custodial operations, including staff scheduling, quality inspections, training, supplies and equipment, facility presentation, and coordination with other YMCA departments.

  • Coach, train, and support custodial staff while holding team members accountable for assigned responsibilities.
  • Create and maintain custodial schedules and coordinate coverage for absences, events, and high-demand periods.
  • Monitor custodial supplies and equipment and help manage expenses within an established budget.
  • Ensure cleaning equipment is properly maintained, stored, and safely operated.
  • Coordinate cleaning needs with other YMCA departments and respond to facility needs in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate cleaning, inspection, supply, equipment, and training records.
  • Train staff on cleaning procedures, safety practices, chemicals, PPE, and equipment.
  • Document facility concerns and follow up on unresolved issues.
  • Support the Facilities Director with routine operational needs and help resolve issues before they become larger problems.
  • Assist with annual maintenance closures, including coordinating custodial projects, staff, and timelines.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the YMCA Outpost.
  • Participate in staff meetings, ongoing training, and YMCA events and initiatives.
  • Support the YMCA's mission of strengthening our community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
  • Follow all YMCA safety, abuse prevention, risk management, and reporting requirements.
