POSITION SUMMARY
The Area Sales Manager is responsible for growing profitable sales within a designated market or account(s) in collaboration with the VP of Sales through both direct and broker management. This role will cover accounts such as divisions of Safeway/Albertons, WinCo, Smart & Final, Raley's, Basha's, Stater Brothers, Grocer's Supply & Independents and other regional accounts that may pull from UNFI and KeHe. The Area Sales Manager will develop and execute specific sales strategies while prioritizing opportunities to deliver on expectations of the business.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Achieve assigned sales budgets and metrics such as revenue, trade, forecast accuracy, T&E, and any additional custom initiatives created
  • Manage business relationships and develop account penetration through proactive direct account interaction and proactive broker management while continuing to add new customers and products to the account base
  • Implement strategic account plans to include distribution assortment, promotional activity, merchandising standards and optimal pricing through trade management in compliance with the overall brand strategies
  • Work collaboratively with other teams such as Marketing, Innovation, Finance, Operations, and others to achieve outlined directives and initiatives
  • Develop and deliver progress reports and required documentation (i.e. forecast, ROI campaign results, and sales strategy)
  • Remain current in all internal reporting and external communication
  • Contribute to overall company development through continuous improvement
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field required
  • 3-5 years of related experience required
  • CPG experience required
  • Broker management and direct sales experience a plus
  • IRI, Nielsen, or other syndicated data systems experience a plus
  • MS Office proficiency required; Apple Mac proficiency a plus
  • Willing to travel with some overnight travel (35-60%) required
  • Deep understanding of the industry, products, competitors, history, emerging trends, and changing marketplace
  • Ability to consistently and proactively manage multiple accounts
