Mechanical Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and products.
Essential Functions:
· Assist with maintenance of factory facilities and equipment, planning and budgeting replacements, repairs, preventive maintenance, and other adjustments to factory facilities and equipment when necessary.
· Assist with the establishment and monitoring of overall factory performance for production and quality standards.
· Assist with the analysis of production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports to detect production problems and to ensure factory performance measures.
· Assist Factory Manager with the planning and budgeting of all factory capital improvements.
· Confer with Factory Manager and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
· Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain factory equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
· Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
· Assist in the development of the structural design of factory components & equipment, using drafting tools or computer-assisted design/drafting equipment and software.
· Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
· Determine, recommend, and implement improvements to production processes, methods, and controls.
· Establish and coordinate maintenance and safety procedures, service schedules, and supply of materials required to maintain machines and equipment in the prescribed condition.
· Assist Factory Manager with the development of budgets and the approval of expenditures for supplies, materials, and human resources.
· Assist Factory Manager with compliance with state and federal environmental, safety, and industrial regulations.
· Assign or delegate responsibilities to subordinates, and provide supervision through effective communication, coaching, training, and development.
· Assist Factory Manager to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, plan human resource needs, and to identify and hire the best people for the job.
Secondary Duties:
· Attends various meetings regularly: management meetings (bi-weekly), budgeting meetings, foremen meetings, and safety meetings (monthly), to air concerns and determine solutions.
· Tours other mills regularly to share information, review common problems and concerns, and identify resolutions and improved methods.
· Performs other additional tasks as may be appropriately assigned or requested.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, balance, stoop, and kneel; occasional lifting of items not to exceed 50 lbs.; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; use manual dexterity to operate factory equipment, computer keyboard, calculator, and telephone; talk and hear; specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Minimum Requirements / Competencies:
· Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with some course preparation in business administration or equivalent.
· At minimum 2 – 6 years of experience.
· An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication and diplomacy skills.
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
· Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
· Ability to design and operate all factory equipment.
· Ability to operate computer, using engineering software and other applications, spreadsheets, and other business software.
· Ability to operate calculator and other office tools.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be in a combination of office and factory environments and may occasionally be exposed to weather conditions. The noise level in the office environment is usually moderate; Employee may be exposed to extensive noise, dust, smells, oil, and other environmental factors typically present in a factory, and may be required to use safety glasses or hearing protection when in this work environment or to perform specific tasks.
Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, exempt position, requiring 40+ hours during the off-season. Weekend work may be required during the summer. During the grinding season (approximately 90 days), work hours are 12+ hour-days, 7 days a week.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
