Production, Warehousing and Distribution Instructor



Living Classrooms Foundation strengthens communities and inspires young people to achieve their potential through hands-on education and job training, using urban, natural, and maritime resources as "living classrooms."

Living Classrooms’ Production, Warehousing, and Distribution (PWD) Training is an eight-week adult workforce program, designed in partnership with Under Armour. PWD Training is modeled on the job functions, career skills, and industry standards found in entry-level warehouse and distribution careers. Using hands-on lessons, direct career development, active case management, and the dynamic facilities at the Living Classrooms Opportunity Center in Harbor East, the program aims to establish a pipeline to employment between Baltimore’s untapped workforce and the growing career opportunities at facilities such as Tradepoint Atlantic. With the support of Under Armour and additional industry partners, the goal is to prepare Baltimore City residents for direct placement in high-demand positions within Under Armour and other companies around the area.

The operations support trainer will be responsible for delivering training content.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

·       Develop Instructional design, curriculum, and implementation plan for the new PWD training

·       Provide all instruction and facilitation in culturally competent manner, incorporating an equity lens, to promote the success of trainees of diverse backgrounds and learning styles

·       Model curriculum, classroom lessons and projects on industry standards and expose trainees to a wide variety of tools and skills within the industry

·       Build relationships with individual trainees; provide a learning environment that promotes respect, hope, and empowerment

·       Monitor individual trainee attendance and performance and address concerns, successes, and challenges on a consistent basis

·       Collaborate with case managers around trainees' performance and achievement of goals

·       Develop and maintain a system to assess and track trainees’ knowledge and skills; provide trainees with ongoing evaluation and feedback

 Qualifications/Education and/or experience/critical skills:

·       High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; 12 months warehouse experience in the role of Team Lead; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·       Knowledge of warehouse operations; ability to coach and train others; ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; ability to follow detailed instructions both written and verbally; ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures; ability to apply concepts of basic math. 

Physical Demands:

·       Frequent or continuous standing, lifting, walking, and bending.

·       May handle objects, and/or tools for training, reaches with arms; uses cutting device to open or break down cartons.

·       May frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

·       May occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds overhead. 

·       Vision abilities depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
