Retail Loan Processor/Junior Underwriter

The Retail Loan Processor/Junior Underwriter is responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the processing and underwriting of all types of residential loans, ensuring that all loan files are complete and compliant with standard mortgage regulations and QNB’s loan policies. 

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Process documentation necessary for a residential mortgage loan application by:

1.                   Ensure timely and independent processing of consumer and mortgage files (in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Bank policies and procedures) from origination to post closing.

2.                   Accurately and timely adherence to the requirements of all retail loan regulations and QNB’s Retail Lending Policy.

3.                   Perform initial file review to check for completeness and process loans through vendor Automated Underwriting Systems and Internal Underwriting systems and review findings with the Loan Officer and Underwriter, clear conditions and note stipulations on the commitment letter or loan approval document.

4.                   Input loan data according to the loan officer’s instructions and assist the Loan Officer with the calculation of Debt to Income and Loan to Value ratios.

5.                   Underwrite and make recommendations for approval of retail loans.

6.                   Performing initial file review to check for completeness.

7.                   Tracking, gathering documents, and clearing any outstanding loan conditions in conjunction with the underwriter.

8.                   Order appraisals, title work, and review flood certifications. Send any necessary borrower notifications where applicable, including copies of appraisals.  Review reports with Retail Loan Officer and/or Retail Lending Manager.

9.                   Completing compliance, loan quality, and fraud detection checks on each borrower.

10.               Accurately and timely maintenance of receipt of loan fees, as well as performing G/L reconcilement of those fees.  Send invoices from vendors with GL’s to Finance for payment.  Reconcile GL and submit to supervisor and Finance.

11.               Updating loan files and inputting updated information in the loan origination system.

12.               Produce scheduled management reports.

13.               Monitor rate pricing through Freddie Mac and send to Manager.  Make applicable changes to rates, indexes, and LOS.

14.               Responding to customer and branch inquires and being accountable for a positive borrower experience.

15.               Maintaining open and frequent communication with others in the department to ensure a smooth customer experience. 

16.               Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws.

17.               Completes assigned compliance training in a timely manner and demonstrates ability to apply training to duties and responsibilities.

18.               Assuming other job-related duties as requested.

REQUIRED TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EDUCATION:

1.      Thorough understanding of Retail and Mortgage loan requirements.

2.      Ability to demonstrate knowledge of real estate, automobile, and unsecured lending practices including federal and state regulations and compliance with respect to TRID and Regulation Z and other consumer regulations.

3.      Proficiency in Automated Underwriting Systems as well as Microsoft Office, Database software, Meridian Mortgage, IDS, and Laser Pro.

4.      Ability to prioritize multiple demands in a high-pressure environment while maintaining professional demeanor, organization and maintaining a pipeline of 30+ loans.

5.      Ability to calculate and apply financial underwriting ratios.

6.      Minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience in secondary market mortgage and consumer loan processing preferred.

7.      Must be able to maintain a high level of accuracy.

8.      Understand loan documentation to assist in pre and post funding reviews.

9.      Possess a high level of interpersonal and communication skills to represent the Bank in a positive manner when dealing with both internal and external customers.

10.   High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred but not required.

11.   Proactively communicate loan status with the customer and maintain confidentiality of customer information

12.   Extremely detail oriented with strong organizational and multi-tasking skills

13.   Ability to work under pressure and meet stringent deadlines on a consistent basis

14.   Ability to maintain a pipeline of 30+ loans
