Land-Based Healing Support Worker

The Aboriginal Coalition to End Homelessness Society (ACEH) is looking for a land-based healing support worker to assist in assembling and organizing land-based healing camps and day events/programming. The ACEH is dedicated to offering cultural programming and camps to the Indigenous Street Community while offering Indigenous Alcohol Harm Reduction and Cannabis Substitution programs safely while out on the land. Wage: $27.00 - $28.00 per hour
Location: 101-736 Broughton Street and on the land at camps as required
End Date: March 31, 2026

Responsibilities:
- Assist with Land-Based Healing camp and day-event planning, including booking accommodations, scheduling facilitators, organizing rental equipment, purchasing necessary supplies, and more.
- Assist with all aspects of Family Member involvement in Land-based Healing, including relationship building, recruitment, coordinating pre-camp assessments, conducting intakes, and developing care plans in consultation with the Registered Nurse and Program Manager.
- Assist with pre-camp preparations including shopping, packing, and meal planning.
- Maintain camp supply and equipment inventory.
- Maintain connections with camp participants, reminding them of upcoming dates, including medical dates that may be required to participate. Liaise with the participant’s primary caregiver.
- Attend Land-Based Healing camps (day camps, multi-day camps), and be available to respond to emergencies that may occur overnight at camp.
- Transport Family Members to land-based healing camps.
- Ensure ACEH van logs are maintained, receipts are submitted, and the van is thoroughly cleaned after use.
- Ensure that camp planning forms are completed.
Participate in the camp set up, cooking, camp takedown, updating the inventory list, and purchasing replacement material and equipment where needed in preparation for the next camp. - Maintain ongoing contact and complete check-ins with Land-Based Healing Participants.
- Conduct debrief talking circles for Land-based Healing participants.
- Support with watering, harvesting, and maintaining garden plots at House of Courage, SPAKEN House, Youth House, and Sacred Cradle House.
- Ongoing outreach pre- and post-camps, liaising with the participants and following up as required.
- Support with other cultural and community-centered events for ACEH Family Members.
- Support with program reporting at year end with the Land-Based Healing Manager.
- Other duties as required by the Land-Based Healing Manager.
Administrative Duties:
- Track relevant Land-based Healing and related supports in the Case Management Administration System (CAMS). File Family Member care plans as required.
- Create and distribute invitations and posters for upcoming ACEH events.
- Check ACEH email for important updates and communications.
Required Qualifications:
- Required demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating, and working in a fast-paced environment requiring troubleshooting.
- Level 5 Driver’s License – ability to drive ACEH van with passengers.
- FoodSafe Certificate.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Non-Violent Crisis intervention certification.
- Naloxone and harm reduction training.
- Wilderness First Aid is an asset.
- Willing and able to complete a Criminal Record Check through the Ministry of Justice for working with vulnerable adults.
- Dependable vehicle.
- Two work-related references (no more than three years old).

- Knowledge of providing culturally and trauma-informed care; Understanding the intergenerational trauma that occurs because of colonization,
- Residential Schools, Sixties Scoop, and other oppressive systems, as well as the history of Indigenous peoples in Canada.
- Ability to learn from other leaders and Elders, modeling the vision and encouraging others to commit to and champion the vision - inspiring others into new ways of working together to provide excellent wrap-around support services within a cultural lens and approach.
