SUMMARY
As a member of the Coach 1 team, the Team Lead assists the Program Manager in both the daily operation and development of the program. This position provides an opportunity for training as a Program Manager and is also intended to provide coverage for the Program Manager in their absence. The Team Lead ensures all responsibilities towards the youth are carried out within a trauma and resiliency-informed framework, promoting a culturally proficient approach when working with students and their families, ensuring client safety. Choice and control are priorities of The Link, and providing behavioral management and academic support in the classroom as well as in the community; family support; recreational programming; and other community components of a 24-hour treatment plan based on The Link’s Therapeutic Model of Care, including establishing collaborative and trusting relationships. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: of the Team Lead include but are not limited to: 

As a member of the Coach Team:
  • Participates in planning and implementing strength-based, goal-oriented plans for the students and families
  • Implements the behavioral and family support components of the treatment plan
  • Co-develops student-centered plans that consider all aspects of the students’ needs and communicates these to the Coach team
  • Assists in the development, planning, and participation of out-of-school individual, and group activities
  • Supervises all student and group activities, on and off-site
  • Provides support to, and consults with families to identify interventions that are clearly related to the strengths and needs of the family
  • Communicates regularly with the Program Manager, team members, and families
  • Attends and participates in Coach team meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Adheres to all The Link and Winnipeg School Division policies and procedures
  • Completes daily behavior summary reports, documentation, data information, and frequency checklists
  • Supports daily operations as they are to support community and classroom activities
  • Other duties assigned in the Coach position
As a Team Leader:
  • Provides vacation and other time off coverage for the Program Manager
  • Provides on-call coverage as required
  • Represents the Program Manager at meetings or in the community as required
  • Completes administrative duties, as assigned by the Program Manager. These duties may include but are not limited to:        
               - Scheduling, coordinating and training hourly Coaches
               - Orienting new employees
               - Performs financial and purchasing responsibilities, such as replenishing program supplies
               - Coordinating the distribution of information

  • Participates in ongoing professional development to increase knowledge and skill level
  • Supports the program to reflect The Link and Coach treatment philosophy, agency policies and procedures, and program protocols
  • Represents the service, the program, and the organization in a professional manner

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the youth care field working with trauma-affected families, youth, and with children with pervasive behavior disorders and emotional needs.
  • Experience working in a multi-agency (collaborative cross-agency) team is preferred. 
EDUCATION:

  • Degree or Diploma in Human Services or related field or
  • A combination of education and experience in social services (i.e. Social Work, Community Development, Inner City Studies, Child and Youth Care) may be considered.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C or willingness to obtain.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse Registry check with acceptable Prior Contact. checks and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check, all done within the last 3 months.
  • Crisis De-escalation Training.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and overtime (as required).
  • Willingness to work in a school environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle is a requirement for this position.

SALARY RANGE: $45,000 - $ 47,500. 

HOURS OF WORK: 80 hours bi-weekly.
