Case Management Counsellor - Settlement Services
Responsible to: Settlement Services Manager
Responsibilities: The Case Management Counsellor performs all tasks as requested by the Program Manager and collaborates with the Settlement Team to plan and implement appropriate client programming as well as any promotional activities. Provide the full range of case management services under the CSS program to refugee families.

- Sound judgement and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
- Knowledge of immigrant/refugee settlement and integration process;
- Ability to adapt to new and challenging situations;
- Functional computer skills including keyboard skills, word processing and database applications;
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in social sciences, humanities or similar is preferred;
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly immigrants and refugees;
- Additional language abilities - Speaking either Arabic, Swahili, or Somalian would be an asset;
- Exceptional written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills;
- Standard computer skills necessary;
- Ability to work some flexible hours (occasional evening & weekend);
- Must have a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's Licence;
- Must pass YWCA Security Clearance (criminal record check and vulnerable sector check);
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision;

Objectives:
- Welcome and Assist Refugee and Immigrant Clients: Provide a warm, inclusive environment to assist clients in navigating their settlement journey, addressing immediate and long-term needs;
- Arrange First Language Services: Coordinate translation and interpretation services to ensure clients can fully understand and participate in services, enhancing their overall experience and comfort.
- Conduct Needs Assessment & Develop Individual Settlement Plans: Evaluate the specific needs of each client, creating personalized settlement plans to guide their integration into the community.
- Support Clients with Medical Needs: Assist Government-Assisted Refugees (GARs) in accessing necessary healthcare and medical services, ensuring their well-being during settlement.
- Assess and Respond to Crisis Situations: Identify clients in crisis and provide immediate support, while notifying the Manager for more comprehensive service interventions when required.
- Develop Community Partnerships for Referral Programs: Build relationships with local organizations to connect clients with essential programs, including counselling, employment support, budgeting, and parenting services, based on their individual case plans. Organize and facilitate information group sessions.
- Provide Solution-Focused Counseling: Offer brief, solution-focused counseling to individuals, empowering them to overcome challenges and achieve their personal goals.
- Collect and Report Statistical Data: Gather and maintain accurate data related to client needs and progress, ensuring timely and efficient reporting for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
- Perform Additional Tasks as Requested by Manager: Be flexible and ready to assist with any other tasks that support the agency's mission and the well-being of refugee clients.
Probation: All YWCA Prince Albert positions contain a three month probationary period.
