Audio Producers will be part of the ‘Build Team’ within the Creative Services Department. Other team members will include video producers, graphic designers, and photographers. Members of the Build Team will report to an administrative Project Manager, and other members of Corporate Services and the Leadership Team as needed. They will work to create and edit audio resources as needed for social media and marketing assets, internal and external-facing videos, and educational materials (print and digital).

Work assigned to Audio Producers will be assigned based on each individual’s strengths, experiences, and interest, and consist of a mix of general audio mixing and production. Projects may include and are not limited to:

  • Mix audio for training videos

  • Mix audio for artist performance videos as they come in

  • Mix audio for footage from public events

  • Compiling recordings of performances and trainings 

 

Due to federal funding requirements for this program, successful applicants must be:

  • 15–30 years of age on their first day of work

  • A Canadian citizen, have a permanent resident card, or be protected under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (there is no requirement to be a student) 

  • Residing in Canada during the length of the employment.

This program pays minimum wage for your province. The summer employment length is 7-16 weeks between May and September. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop the audio elements that meet the objectives of requests submitted from other parts of the organization.

  • Create a clear sound for training videos and performances using traditional tools and multimedia editing software.

  • Gather audio resources needed for projects assembled by other members of the Build Team.

  • Estimate cost of materials and time to complete assigned works.

  • Use existing audio recording banks and guides to produce audio for videos that meet internal and external communications needs.

  • Consult on and follow guidelines established in the company branding guide.

  • Coordinate aspects of production for various platforms, such as websites and social media.

  • Work comfortably in a multidisciplinary environment, and communicate effectively and regularly.

  • Cooperate with other department workers and supervisors to achieve departmental and organizational goals.

  • Will be required to work alongside other audio producers, graphic designers, videos editors, and others as part of the Creative Services department.

  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by management.

  • Develop and implement The Co-op artists’ online live streaming campaigns appropriate for online digital media (e.g. supporting resources used for social media promotion, etc.)

  • Gather, research and prepare communications material for internal and external audiences

  • Potentially run video switchers and cameras to broadcast and record music performances in a studio setting

  • Attend daily team meetings, taking notes as needed

  • Attend weekly staff meetings, taking notes as needed

  • Meet assigned deadlines; prepare and follow a work plan in consultation with Project Manager and other team leads

  • Any other duties as assigned

Education/experience requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will possess or be nearing completion of a post-secondary or post-graduate program in one of the fields of Music, Audio Engineering or Broadcast Media; or possess equivalent work experience and knowledge.

  • Experience creating and implementing strategies for an online work environment is an asset.

    • Online communications platforms (Slack, Discord, etc.)

    • Audio Mixing Software (Ableton, Adobe Audition, etc.)

    • Zoom

 

The Co-op seeks individuals who enjoy collaboration, creativity, learning new skills, and engaging with artists and the community. This position may involve working some evenings and weekends as needed for special events (typically mass interviews and onboardings) and items needed on an urgent basis.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Membership is not required to participate in the competition for this position, and no preference is given to existing members in our ranking process, however, upon acceptance of an employment contract, all employees are required to join the co-operative as a member.


Those not selected as an Audio Producer are still welcome to join The Co-op as members. Professional Creator members have access to the same live or digital resources, support and community as those in our musician programs.
