The opportunity:
This role will require collaboration and a deep understanding of operational quality processes and lean analysis while assessing risk and ensuring calibration amongst programs across the organization. Identification and action plan implementation for trending defects through quality processes and system design.
This role will require oversight of a small team to ensure all deliverables are executed within the planned timeframes. The Manager will be responsible for the enforcement of performance monitoring activities with Program Managers and Senior Management across Efficiency Nova Scotia’s Programs.
- Responsible for conducting ongoing assessments of the Performance Management System[ML1] , including annual review reports, scalability, flexibility, and evaluation results.
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with all contractual agreements and provincial and federal laws and guidelines.
- Responsible for researching other quality assurance processes and recommending quality assurance tools, technology, and best practice methods.
- Responsible for performing Root Cause Analysis of errors and discrepancies and implementing corrective measures and processes.
- Responsible for working with other Efficiency Nova Scotia managers to identify opportunities to implement Performance Management programs and processes within the existing program structure.
- Responsible for the evaluate analytical methods and inspection procedures to determine how they might be improved and automated.
- Responsible for the ongoing calibration with management teams, KPI tracking, and reporting to Manager.
- Responsible for analyzing and generating reporting, identifying trending defects, and implementing right-sized action plans to further mitigate risks.
- Responsible for training and communicating all quality assurance standards and processes to all programs.
- Responsible for recognizing team accomplishments, setting annual performance goals, providing ongoing coaching and challenging projects, and creating opportunities for learning and development to help employees achieve personal, team, and corporate goals.
- Perform all other duties as required.
What Will Help You Succeed?
- University degree or Diploma in a Planning or business-related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Experience managing and developing direct reports to achieve results.
- Experience in maintaining an organization's quality standard (ISO 9001), working in a quality management and/or safety, health & environmental management program, performing internal audits and external audits of vendors, conducting process mapping sessions, and ensuring corrective action and/or non-conformance reports.
- A minimum of three years of direct experience in the quality control or quality assurance field
- Lean Six Sigma and Project Management would be considered an asset
- Some knowledge of energy use, energy efficiency, and conservation principles would be considered an asset.
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- The ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- The ideal candidate should be able to generate ideas, be innovative, and be a creative problem solver.
- The ideal candidate should have the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, diplomacy & discretion.
What to expect in your first several weeks on the job:
In the first week, expect to:
- Introduction to Team and Program Managers to learn about your collaboration with program teams.
- Job shadow Quality Specialists and understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Read program materials to get more familiar with Efficiency Nova Scotia Programs and Efficiency Preferred Partner Network.
- Review current state quality framework within programs.
In the first month, expect to:
- Perform core duties with limited support.
- Meet our Program Managers and understand in detail all Quality elements and contractual agreements.
- Continue to learn more about industry and performance management demands.
- Start identifying risks, opportunities for improvement, and the ability to streamline.
In the first three months, expect to:
- Perform core duties independently.
- Create a plan to launch right sized centralized supplier performance management system.
- Establish a performance and development plan with your manager.
