About Working on a "Floatel"

LandSea will be providing workforce catering and accommodation services for guests onboard the MV Isabelle, a 650-passenger "Floatel". The Floatel will be permanently docked in Squamish, B.C. and is estimated to operate for up to three years.   All crew members onboard the MV Isabelle must have the minimum marine safety certifications required by Transport Canada for the specific job.   


Individuals who do not have the required marine safety certifications (see details below) will be required to attend a 5-10-day marine safety program. LandSea covers the costs of training, however, crew who do not complete minimum employment contracts are responsible for repaying part of all the training costs.    


At work, the crew are provided with accommodation, full meals, WIFI and can access health/gym facilities they can access when off work. We provide partial uniforms and help with the travel/reservations as needed to and from locations. Excellent Health and Wellness benefits are offered after three months. 


About the Opportunity 

We currently have an opening for a Guest Reception Clerk.


The Guest Reception Clerk serves as the first point of contact for all guests on the vesselAs such, the ideal candidate should be friendly, welcoming, patient, helpful, and knowledgeableTheir duties may include greeting guests as they arrive, managing the check-in and check-out process, answering questions and requests, and helping with administrative tasks at the front deskThe Guest Reception Clerk provides support to the store and monitors the CCT (closed circuit television)The Guest Reception Clerk reports to the Hospitality Manager or Director. 


Key Responsibilities 

Greets guests and assists them with check-in and check-out 

Maintains a positive attitude and friendly demeanor 

Responds to all guest questions and requests 

Answers and forwards phone calls 

Manage guest bookings and reservations 

Keep a tidy and organized workspace 

Assists with administrative and clerical tasks as needed 

Assists with storekeeping duties, including restocking, displays and point of sales 

Monitors closed circuit television system 

 

Qualifications 

2+ years of working in a hotel reception or guest services role 

Great communication skills. Speak, read, and write English  

Completion of a high school diploma, a GED or suitable equivalent  

Team player and supports, motivates, and encourages others  

Excellent attention to detail and well-developed organizational skills  

Strong work ethic with an ability to work independently and in a team environment  

Maintains a positive, friendly attitude even under high pressure 

Always maintain a professional appearance  

Work safely and responsibly  

 

Physical Requirements

Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch for long periods of time

Repeat the same movements, including fast, repetitive movements of fingers, hands, and wrists  

Use muscles to lift, push, pull or carry objects up to 50 lbs  

Use hands to handle objects and tools  

Willingness to travel often 

 

Certifications and other requirements

Domestic Vessel Safety Certificate  

Passenger Safety Management Certificate 

Ability to clear a drug and alcohol test prior to hiring and potential random tests throughout employment with prior notice; 

Serving it Right Certification an asset 

WHMIS 2015 

Valid Government-issued Identification 

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian, PR Status, or valid Work Permit) 

Criminal Record Check 

Must be able to provide own transportation to designated travel hub (Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Prince George, Terrace etc.,) 

Able to work night shift 

Available to work multiple rotations including 21-7, 2-2, 4-2, etc. 

Be able to provide at least 2 professional work references
