The VP of Engineering is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and oversight to the Engineering Department.  The VP will be responsible for handling overall performance of the team including identifying and filling skill gaps, conducting performance, merit and promotion assessments. The successful candidate will be comfortable leading through transformation and growth while maintaining execution cadence and quality as priority one. He/she will establish and convey a vision and translate that into relatable terms for all in the organization. This leader is expected to be visible and accessible, reinforcing our agile culture, and tradition of engaged leadership.  You'll be responsible for leadership of a very high, caliber team with diverse capabilities.

 Responsibilities

  • Create and execute the product, research & technology strategy to support Programs, in cooperation with Products
  • Create and report key performance indicators of Company performance
  • Apply robust, consistent, and reliable engineering fundamentals and processes to ensure product integrity and process capability.
  • Comfort and skill interfacing with customers
  • Manage, forecast, and report on budgets in conjunction with Finance.
  • Create an environment of open communications for employees.
  • Manage roles, responsibilities, and accountability across the team
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains management staff in the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field of study (math, physics, etc) and 15 or more years of applicable industry experience with 8 or more years of demonstrated success in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written, for internal and external customers.
  • Strong business acumen and comfort enabling, participating in and influencing business decisions.
  • Ability to balance conflicting resource demands and internal pressures with focus towards our business priorities.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to building a positive culture of inclusion and diversity
  • Strong organizational leadership skills.
