GENERAL SUMMARY:
The mission of Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education is to create opportunity for under-resourced youth of the Greater Philadelphia Region to prosper in life. The intended impact is that participating youth will become Snider student-athletes with age-appropriate social-emotional strengths and skills to succeed and contribute as students, employees and community members.
The Career Success Coordinator will oversee career development programming, build partnerships through networking activities, and provide professional development opportunities that will allow Snider students and alumni to explore different career options, acquire valuable work experience, and take steps to gain fulfilling employment in their field of choice.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and deliver Snider’s career development programming for middle school, high school, and postsecondary-aged students. Initiatives should encourage students to consider a wide range of options in various fields. Programming will assist in identifying their personal values and sense of purpose to guide career exploration and help students and alumni build meaningful careers.
- Manage and grow partnerships for internships, job shadowing, and other professional opportunities for Snider students and alumni.
- Lead programming to foster skill growth and gather feedback from Snider’s Leadership Council.
- Host career-orientation workshops and networking opportunities for Snider students and alumni to strengthen their employability skills.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, potential partners, and other stakeholders.
- Manage part-time Life Skills Coach. Coordinate, supervise, and conduct tasks related to support functions such as payroll, finance, risk management & human resources.
- Travel within the Greater Philadelphia/South Jersey area is required. Flexible work schedule and ability to occasionally work nights and weekends is required.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) is required; education, counseling, psychology, social work, or related major is preferred.
- Prior experience working with youth aged 13 to 24 is preferred.
- Possess knowledge of career development initiatives. Experience with local employment services is a plus.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse constituencies, such as Snider students, parents/guardians, coworkers, staff at partner organizations, and community groups, as well as with diverse racial and ethnic groups.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an emphasis on interpersonal communication.
- Demonstrate advanced computer literacy and an ability to interpret and learn from data; proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office is required, experience with Salesforce or another customer relationship management (CRM) platform is a plus.
- Excellent time management skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced and high-profile environments.
- Previous experience supervising staff is preferred.
- Successful applicants must be able to pass the PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Background Check, and FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
- General knowledge of ice hockey can be helpful, but it is not mandatory.

INTELLECTUAL AND SOCIAL DEMANDS:
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits.  The position requires constant attention to precise details and specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than three steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee will regularly operate a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc. Employee will occasionally move about inside office space to access storage areas, cabinets, and office machinery. Local driving in support of work-related projects is necessary. Position will require occasional pushing, pulling, lifting and/or moving.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The essential responsibilities of this position are primarily performed indoors, mainly in an office setting but including regular visits to ice hockey rinks, schools, community centers, and special event sites (indoor/outdoor in the weather conditions prevalent at the time). The noise level in these work environments can range from moderate to loud during events/programs, and is minimal during non-event/program times. 
SCHEDULE:
Most work is completed during standard weekday hours. Occasional night and/or weekend duties in the Greater Philadelphia area are required.
