What We Do

Rooted in our core values of Caring, Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, and Inclusiveness, since 1853 the YMCA has connected Nova Scotian’s to life-enhancing opportunities.  As a non-profit charity, we provide vital services, such as Health, Employment, Childcare/ Camps, Immigrant Services, and Youth Development.

At the YMCA we know that our ability to partner with others in our community is through the passion and dedication of our employees and volunteers. It is through our 200 staff and 100 volunteers that we are able to do what we do.  In joining the YMCA you will become part of a dedicated network of individuals with a great passion for providing holistic support to the communities in which we serve.

How You Can Help

We are always accepting applications from interested candidates for any future opportunities.  With the diversity of our programs brings with it a variety of employment and volunteer avenues in such areas as Childcare, Before/Afterschool, Youth Recreation, Employment Services, Newcomer Services, Big Cove Camp, Fundraising, administration, Health Fitness and Aquatics (including our new John W. Lindsay YMCA), as well as such National initiatives as YMCA Community Action Network (YCAN) and Gender-Based Violence Prevention.  Our positions range from part-time, full time, contract, or volunteers. 

Note: Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and proof of valid First Aid and CPR training.  Employees will be required to attend YMCA Child Protection Training
