The role of the Environmental Technician is to assist in maintaining the cleanliness and environmental quality of all Fellowship Community buildings and campus. Performance is in accordance with the established policies, procedures and Mission / Core Values of Fellowship Community to assure that organizational federal, state, and local regulations and standards are met.

§  Cleaning experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility or other related facilities is preferred.

§  High school education or equivalent.

§  Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local skilled nursing regulations.  

§  Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and speak English.

§  Basic Computer skills

§  Knowledge of floor and carpet care equipment.

§  Must be able to lift, push, or pull in excess of one hundred (100) pounds.

§  Must be able to sweep, dry and wet mop, and climb a ladder.

§  Must have an understanding of Geriatrics and Dementia.

§   Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver license.

§  Must be able to operate janitorial and maintenance equipment in a safe, efficient manner

§  Successful completion of Fellowship Community orientation.

§  Meets requirements of Pre-hire assessment.


§  Responsible for hanging of window dressings, privacy curtains and wall mounted items to include paper towel and soap dispensers, pictures or other items as directed by Housekeeping Director.

§  Responsible for stripping, waxing, buffing burnishing all floors using appropriate chemicals and equipment.

§  Responsible for cleaning and maintaining all carpeted areas using proper chemicals and equipment.

§  Responsible for using appropriate equipment to clean all hallway floors in the Manor every day.

§  Responsible for cleaning and maintaining all stairwells Manor, Terrace, and Villa every day.

§  Responsible for cleaning all Terrace and Villa lights on walls and ceilings.

§  Responsible for changing 3 sets each of privacy curtains on both floors of the Manor every day.

§  Responsible for disinfecting all sink aerators and showerheads in all buildings, Manor, Terrace, and Villa quarterly.

§  Responsible for deep cleaning commercial dryers out by means of taking dryer apart monthly.

§  Assists with snow removal, all entrances and emergency exits 6 ft. out. Apply salt as necessary.

§  Moves furniture and fixtures as needed.

§  Uses appropriate soaps, disinfectants, chemicals, finishing products and equipment to clean polish and maintain carpeted, tiled or other floors throughout the community as directed by the housekeeping director.

§  May clean other surfaces including but not limited to wall, doors, windows, countertops, work surfaces, furniture or bathroom facilities as needed to maintain a sanitary, healthful environment for residents, employees and visitors.

§  Gather and collect trash every day.

§  Assists with delivering linens, towels, washcloths to all units in the Manor, Terrace, Villa twice a day or as needed.

§  Assists with restocking briefs, oxygen, concentrators every day.

§  Assists with gathering and delivering cleaning supplies three times per week.

§  Set up / arrange tables and chairs to prepare facility for events / meetings.

§  Monitors work areas for safety and report any safety concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor immediately.

§  Carries out duties in a manner, which promotes the safety of residents, staff, and visitors.

§  Properly handle materials in compliance with facility policies and procedures to ensure safety and limit exposure.

§  Properly dispose of soiled materials in compliance with facility policies and procedures.

§  Carries out duties in a manner, which ensures that all residents are treated fairly and with kindness, dignity, and respect.

§  Respects the resident's rights including privacy and confidentiality.

§  Knocks before entering resident's room.

§  Any other duty as directed by the Director of Housekeeping/Laundry or designee.
