Position Summary:

The Quality Engineer (QE) is a key member of the quality team responsible for all the aspects related to the quality management system, process and product, compliance to copy exact requirements, improving processes, product and services quality and optimizing the inspection and test points.

The QE works in close cooperation with the multi-disciplinary team integrated by manufacturing, purchasing and engineering to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction, product & service quality and process performance and to identify opportunities for improvement and mitigate risk.


Key Responsibilities:

Quality Engineering

  • Drive immediate containment actions to avoid further impact to the product.
  • Responsible for the nonconformance, corrective action and continual improvement processes.
    • Lead the investigation and root cause analysis of all non-conformances and ensure satisfactory resolution is achieved
    • Work with different departments to ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and quality issues are contained and resolved.
  • Responsible for the process audits to ensure product documentation complies to customer drawings, schematics, specifications, criteria and requirements.
  • Responsible to create and maintain the control quality plans to ensure the critical, special and highly critical characteristics are monitored in a regular basis and reaction plans defined.
  • Drive the internal audit program and identify opportunities for improvement and possible risk.
  • Develop and maintain the process performance and product quality metrics and identify opportunities for improvement and risk mitigation.
  • Create the monthly quality report for customer quality and process/product performance
  • Analyze the process/product data results and create reports to drive improvement
  • Measure, maintain and report the cost of quality and analyze the information to identify opportunities for improvement and risk.
  • Measure, maintain and report the customer satisfaction and analyze the information to identify opportunities for improvement and risk.
  • Lead the material review board to identify the actions to correct process issues and improve product quality
  • Serves as internal auditor, directing the internal auditing team in carrying out audits of the different processes and areas of the organization.
  • Participates on the Product Review Board (PRB) as required
  • Assists in the review of ECO and deviations and request changes to customers
  • Oversees final inspection of serial production and prototype products
  • Provides oversight of the calibration program to ensure calibration requirements (frequency, range, and acceptance level) of equipment/tools have been well defined
  • Promote the compliance to copy exact and quality manual throughout the organization
  • Create and deliver the product FAIR and ensure is approved before product is released for production.

Final inspection

  • Lead the final inspection team to conduct effective and efficient evaluation of the components, sub-assemblies or finish goods.
  • Lead the material review board to identify the actions to correct process issues and improve product quality
  • Identify the necessary equipment, jigs or fixture required to properly evaluate the components/sub-assemblies and to improve inspection standard times.
  • Define the protocols to determine the required sampling based in the critically of components/Sub-assemblies
  • Define the acceptance criteria and sampling plans.
  • Provide feedback to the engineering team to optimize the component/sub-assembly drawings

Compliance

  • Ensuring compliance with national or international standards, such as RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, WEEE, etc

General

  • Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of company and organization Quality Assurance policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance to the quality management system, while evaluating and promoting best practices to meet internal and external quality expectations
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Serves as internal auditor, carrying out audits of quality management system areas as required by the audit schedule
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in the different inspection and testing process steps.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum a 5 years’ experience working as quality engineering in the manufacturing environment, preferably under the copy exact requirements.
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred). Professional designation engineer will be an asset.
  • Possess a successful record managing quality management system and achieving high levels of products quality and process performance.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and six sigma practices and methodologies, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and the proper implementation of industry practices in the manufacturing process
  • Proficient of root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions
  • Proficient in auditing program and techniques to surveillance product, process and special processes.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including fiber optics, surface finishing, machining, plating, injection molding, PCBA, electronic/semiconductor fabrication, etc.
  • Proficient statistical analysis, included but not limited to SPC, MSA, design of experiments, etc
  • Proficient to read technical drawings/blueprints, specifications, bill of materials and CAD files.
  • Proficient in MS Office software products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Experience using MRP processes
  • Experience leading a team in multiple projects.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate a good decision-making skill
  • Ability to travel internationally
