Studio Planter Builder (Design Focused) Team Member
Location: South Surrey – West Coast Gardens
Hours: 8:30am–5:00pm | 30–40 hours per week
Pay: $18-20/hr
Duration: March–June (possibility to continue into summer season)
About the Role:
West Coast Gardens is looking for a creative and hands-on Studio Planter Designer & Builder to join our team. If you have a passion for annuals, tropicals, and perennials, enjoy working with plants, and have a strong eye for colour, texture, and plant combinations, this could be the role for you.
In this position, you’ll help produce large quantities of indoor and outdoor planters used for retail displays, marketing, and wholesale orders. While many planters are built from provided specifications, we’re looking for someone with an artistic eye who takes pride in creating beautiful finished pieces.
Responsibilities:
Assemble indoor and outdoor planters using provided planting specifications
Build tropical planters and seasonal combinations in bulk quantities
Maintain a high standard for colour balance, plant selection, and overall presentation
Produce planters used in retail displays, e-newsletters, and wholesale programs
Monitor plant health and ensure plants are properly cared for
Keep the Studio workspace clean, organized, and well stocked
Work with the retail and décor teams to ensure displays remain fresh and visually compelling
Qualifications:
Experience with annuals, perennials, and tropical plants
A strong artistic eye for plant combinations and container design
Ability to follow planting specifications while maintaining visual quality
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
Strong attention to detail and consistency
Positive attitude and ability to work well with a team
Able to work in greenhouse environment, (high humidity and temperatures)
Reliable transportation is recommended as the location is not accessible by bus.
