Summary: The role of a mortgage lender is to meet the home purchase and refinance needs of our communities by establishing relationships with professionals involved in all facets of the home purchase/refinance process while providing knowledgeable care and guidance to each client as they navigate the mortgage loan process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the local real estate market; current and predicted lending rates; and changes in rules, regulations, and best practices of various mortgages.
- Develop contacts with local realtors, insurance agencies, inspectors, attorneys, and First Bank staff encourage and elicit referrals.
- Meet with clients to determine whether they are eligible for mortgage loans and review financial information to determine the amount they can borrow.
- You must be able to facilitate the application process from beginning to end which includes proper disclosures, collecting various documentation needed for loan approval, articulate requirements, terms and conditions to client, schedule document preparation, loan closings and any other duties required in the mortgage process.
- Attend all loan closings within a reasonable distance. If unable to attend, ensure that all parties involved are aware of everything needed for closing.
- Reconcile any fees collected at the closing and place those fees in the appropriate General ledger account within First Bank.
- All files that have been closed will need to be maintained in accordance with compliance requirements.

- Complete and maintain the monthly/yearly Closed Loan Reports and Mortgage Referral Reports

Experience and Other Requirements
1. Must have experience in Mortgage Loan Origination and/or processing.
2. Do they need a MLO number?
3. Must be outgoing and sales oriented.
4. Demonstrating knowledge and understanding of general Mortgage Lending practices and guidelines.
5. Must possess analytical ability and ability to conduct thorough research, interpret and understand laws and regulations, and provide workable recommendations and solutions to problems.
6. Must possess the ability to handle multiple, conflicting deadlines.
7. Must possess the ability to interact positively with all levels of the organization, including Management, the Board, other Volunteers, coworkers, and the public to promote a team effort and maintain a positive attitude even under extreme pressure.
8. Excellent oral, written, telephone, organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
9. Extensive use of personal PC required with proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
10. Must be proficient using e-mail and the internet.
