Receiving Supervisor

Essential Job Functions:

Leadership:

  • Is driven with a positive 'can-do' attitude. The supervisor should have the ability to multi-task and prioritize various situations as the need arises.
  • Mentors and develops key performers to be ready for promotion within one year
  • Builds a positive team relationship, demonstrates ethical behavior

Management:

  • Manages daily work flow and production, reallocates personnel to maintain peak efficiency, and provides instruction to team members when needed
  • Develops a daily task list for the dock crew – projects to be completed, tasks to do if it’s slow, upcoming projects or tasks that need to be planned out
  • Stays in communication with Clothing and BAB production teams to see what their needs are for the day
  • Assigns each team member their role for the day. (Greeting customers and receiving donations, sorting, furniture pick-ups, assist with clothing and BAB teams…)
  • Holds team accountable on your day off – establishes expectations and then checks on it

 

  • Tax receipts – brings up receipts to the office on a daily basis

 

  • Financial donations – brings up donations on a daily basis to the manager
  • Ensures the team is sorting  incoming donations per correct departments

 

  • Ensures that all furniture is processed, priced and moved to the sales floor

 

 

  • Maintains the space needs for donations – when to call for clothing pickup, when to box up books, keep big’s flowing to the sales floor…  Communicate with management team of space needs.

 

  • Order dock supplies – plastic wrap, twine, sterifab, packing tape, gaylords…

 

  • Ensures dock is closed up at 5PM – all donations are inside, donation area outside is swept up, dumpster area is clean and free from debris, cones are set up, inside donation area is swept and neat, doors are locked, garage door is properly closed…

 

  • Ensures dock is open by 9:00AM – cones set up, carts ready to receive donations
  • Maintains product knowledge

Customer Service:

·       Greet and assist all customers with a smile…set the example for the rest of the team

 

Trash Management:

  • Calls JP Mascaro when the dumpster has not been emptied and keeps manager informed of needs
  • Maintains the furniture and recycling dumpsters – proper loading procedures, informs manager when dumpster is ready for pick-up
  • Ensure standards are being followed in regards to accepting or declining furniture
  • Monitor what is being thrown away so that we are not throwing away items that could be sold

Safety:

  • Ensures the team is following all safety guidelines including lifting, loading, and unloading procedures, wearing of protective equipment, and proper handling of materials

 

  • Ensures dock is neat and orderly to maintain a safe work environment
