About Working on a “Floatel”
LandSea is seeking a Hotel General Manager to oversee hospitality operations on board a 650 passenger Floatel. This workforce accommodation vessel will be providing accommodation and catering support for a period of approximately 3 years in British Columbia. All crew members onboard the MV Isabelle must have the minimum marine safety certifications required by Transport Canada for the specific job.
Individuals who do not have the required marine safety certifications (see details below) will be required to attend a 5 – 10-day marine safety program. LandSea covers the costs of training, however, crew who do not complete minimum employment contracts are responsible to repay part of all the training costs.
The Hotel GM will reside on the Floatel during shift rotations and typically work between 10 – 12 hours a day. An average shift rotation is approximately 4 weeks on and two weeks off, however, shift rotations can be negotiated.
While working onboard, accommodation, full meals, WIFI and health/gym facilities are available 24/7.

About the Opportunity
The Hotel GM is responsible for the overall project management of catering and accommodation services onboard the vessel. They are responsible for managing the operating budget, planning and executing hospitality operations, and communicating with clients, ship personnel and project representatives.
The focus is on food quality, customer service and health and safety and the overall guest experience. The ideal candidate will have a background in hospitality, hotel operations and preferably, experience working onboard a full-service ship.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the General Manager, Workforce Operations, the primary responsibilities, and job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Communicating with client, ship personnel and project representatives
Planning and executing hospitality operations,
Supervision of all on-board activities.
Ensuring the highest standards of customer service, food quality and safety
Coordinating with other departments, to ensure smooth running of operations.
Overseeing inventory management and logistics
Handling guest inquiries and complaints
Delivering Q&A, Financial and Safety Reporting
Qualifications
Graduate degree in hospitality management or a related field.
Strong leadership skills, excellent people skills, organized, efficient and ability to think on your feet and deal with problems quickly and calmly.
Minimum 5 years’ management experience in a related field of work, preferably Hospitality or Hotel Management in a marine industry
Experience working within a unionized environment an asset.
Ability to administer and receive constructive feedback from both clients and workers.
Excellent communication. Speak, read, and write English at a high level.
Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (MS Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel)
Team player and supports, motivates, and encourages others.
Excellent attention to detail and well-developed organizational skills
Strong work ethic with an ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Physically capable of working long hours and moving throughout the ship frequently.
Certifications and other requirements
Completion of Marine Basic First Aid
Completion of Domestic Vessel Safety
Completion of STCW security related training and instruction
Completion of STCW crowd management
Completion of safety training for personnel providing direct service to passengers in passenger spaces
Completion of Food Safe level 1 or Advanced
Completion of WHMIS 2015
Knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), Travel Restraint, Transport of Dangerous Goods, Accident Investigations and Health and Safety Training
