JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and record journal entries that facilitate the monthly close process. 
  • Effectively utilize IT systems to improve the efficiency of the finance department.
  • Build and review budget vs. actual reports to ensure expenses are managed and recorded in the correct areas.
  • Monitor departmental expenses and meet with department heads monthly to discuss variances. 
  • Monitor the Club’s Finance IT systems to ensure internal controls are in place over service provider software (i.e. SOC II reports for Payroll, Blackline, Online Banking Software, Ticketmaster, etc…).
  • Monitor compliance with Club policies including but not limited to:
    • Gambling Policy
    • TV and Radio League Approvals
    • Partnership Recaps
    • Medical Service Provider
    • Premium Merchandise
    • Serve as a backup for key core processes including but not limited:
      • Deposit transactions
      • Daily cash tracking
      • Wire and ACH transactions
      • Suite and Corporate Partnership accounting
      • Assist the Director of FP&A of manifest updates and game settlements
      • Manage the Club’s contract database
      • Monitor and reconcile revenue and expenses related to Corporate Events.
      • Record entries related to the Club’s PNC Accounts (SERP and Deferred Comp)
      • Update and maintain account information within Blackline
      • Manage the Club’s lease agreements and properly account for the leases under the new standard.
      • Reconcile certain GL accounts including but not limited to:
        • Petty cash accounts
        • Voucher disbursement clearing accounts
        • Consignment ticket accounts
        • Deferred Revenue
        • Maintain the Club’s debt information including quarterly certifications.
        • Assist the Controller to maintain the Corporate Governance matters including but not limited to:
          • Distribution authorizations
          • Meeting Minutes
          • Annual Officer elections
          • Current Directors and Officer’s listing
          • Record entries related to the Club’s credit facilities.  (interest expense, deferred financing fee amortization, etc…)
          • Review the entries related to the Club’s concession and merchandise revenue. 
          • Assist the Controller to maintain player salary expense records.
          • Assist the Controller with projected finish and cash forecast updates. 
          • Assist the Controller with interim League projection updates and five-year forecast. 
          • Assist in the annual audit process for the following areas:
            • Financial Statement Audit
            • Deferred Comp AUP
            • Debt AUP
            • Home Game Tickets Sold AUP
            • Ownership AUP
            • CBA AUP
            • Schedule of Gross Receipts
            • Conforming Financial Statements
            • Manage the 401(K)-audit process, coordinating auditors, HR, Payroll and 3rd party service providers.
            • Assist with the Club’s 50/50 raffle (includes game day responsibilities)
            • Assist the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis with accounting for revenue and expenses related to Special Events (concerts, college football games, etc…)
            • Assist the Controller with Risk Management processes including but not limited to organizing and maintain insurance information. 
            • Implement process improvements as needed, including but not limited to internal controls. 
            • As needed develop and/or update finance and accounting policies for the Club’s Finance Department. 

SKILL SET:

  • 3-5 years of public accounting experience
  • Great Plains system experience preferred (not required)
  • Proficient in report building/generation
  • High level of analytical analysis ability
  • Ability to research and implement generally accepted accounting principles
  • Ability to identify and remediate internal control deficiencies
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills
