The National WWII Museum is currently seeking a Teacher Outreach Specialist.  This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of teacher professional development programs at the Museum and across the country to further the Museum's educational mission.  The Specialist develops a strategy to expand and coordinate the Museum's teacher training program delivered at partner sites, schools, and districts locally and nationwide.  This position engages with educators and school and district-level administrators locally and nationally to develop relationships and schedule and present at trainings.  This position will present training sessions on content and pedagogy at the Museum, online, and across the country.

Responsibilities:

  • With support of the team, develop a strategy, plan, and execute offsite teacher training initiatives; ensure the Museum's curriculum and classroom resources across all subject matter are disseminated and distributed before, during, and after trainings.
  • Support the Museum's annual onsite teacher training programs from recruitment of educators to post-program evaluation.
  • Coordinate content presented in workshops as well as schedules and itineraries.
  • Ensure full and robust program design, documentation, and evaluation of training.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred) in history, arts administration, museum education, education, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years' experience working with elementary and/or secondary school students and teachers in a museum, school, or other educational setting.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating professional development trainings; familiarity with both state-level and national standards across disciplines; master educator experience preferred, but not required.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; proficiency in event planning and scheduling.
