Director of Housekeeping

The Executive Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring efficient operations of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with Peachtree Hospitality Group and DoubleTree by Hilton Biloxi standards, as well as supervising the entire Housekeeping Department including rooms, front/back of the house, public areas, and laundry. Duties generally include troubleshooting, incorporating compliant safety practices and measures into workplace operations. 

Specifically, the Executive will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, National, State, and Local Building regulations and codes

  • Monitor and report on expenses (payroll and supplies) to aid in controlling costs while ensuring adequate staff and supplies are on hand to provide top quality services. 

  • Respond to guest requests, concerns and problems to ensure guest satisfaction

  • Perform general clean in guest rooms and in public spaces according to Brand Standards of every 90 days

  • Troubleshoot problems that arise in and around the hotel and record completed and ongoing tasks

  • Initiate work lists, prioritize tasks, and work assignments so as to ensure timely and efficient completion of all operations

  • Must be proficient in Windows operating systems, Company approved spreadsheets and word processing
  • Excellent leadership, communication and time management skills 

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to interact and assist guests, colleagues, and other departments

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, overnights and holidays

  • Ability to create an enjoyable work environment including mentoring, multi-tasking, strong motivational skills 

  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy 

  • Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action

  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast paced environment

  • Be available on call 24 hours for emergency needs of the asset

  • Provides assistance to other associates and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department and hotel.

  • Participates in hotel management as a Department Head.

  • Scheduling, associate disciplinary action, associate performance reviews will be required.

Experience and Education

  • At least 3-5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field; or a 2-year college degree and 3 or more years of related experience; or a 4-year college degree and at least 2 or more years of related experience.
  • DoubleTree or Hilton experience a plus, but not required

  • 2+ years in a supervisory capacity

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • While mostly an indoor work environment, exposure to outdoor conditions will occur when dealing with issues outside the hotel structure.

  • The hotel may include moderate noise levels.

  • Must be physically able to regularly inspect all areas of interior and exterior of the hotel. In order to visually inspect the hotel, sufficient vision is required

  • Ability to move throughout the hotel (standing, walking, kneeling, and bending) for extended periods of time 

  • Ability to make repeating movements of the arms, hands, and wrists 

  • In addition to being responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for team members, there is substantial physical activity and mobility required, including walking (more than 80%-90% of the time), sitting (more than 10%-20% of the time), climbing steps, and pushing (up to 300lbs) and pulling (up to 100lbs.).
