MISSION STATEMENT:

Liberty Ministries exists to serve offenders in prison and ex-offenders in the community by showing

God’s love, providing practical assistance, and supporting Biblical standards of justice.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Manager In Training works alongside the Mentor Store Manager and the Director of Thrift during their

training period. During their designated time of training they will be placed into various stores and both processing

centers to learn all aspects of Liberty Ministries Thrift. Upon satisfactory completion of their training, the MIT will

receive a permanent placement in a store when the appropriate position becomes available. Must be able to work at all locations. 

 

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Actively learns all aspects of the retail side of the store including cash register, clothing, home goods, furniture, donor services. 

  2. Learns and becomes proficient on the production side of the store including clothing, home goods, electronics, and media production. 

  3. Learn store merchandising and cleanliness standards.

  4. Sets daily priorities for the store and/or areas of responsibility. 

  5. Cash handling including front end, registers and back office duties according to policy. 

  6. Develops an understanding of store reporting and how to utilize it as a tool in managing sales. 

  7. Trains, motivates and develops staff and volunteers to be an effective part of the team.  Participates in all aspects of the hiring process.

  8. Participates in performance management including employee reviews, employee coaching, disciplinary actions and terminations. 

  9. Work with community service and volunteers. 

  10. Leads team meetings. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to relocate to any Liberty Ministries Thrift location. 

  2. Be supportive of the mission of Liberty Ministries and Liberty Ministries Thrift. 

  3. Exceptional customer service skills and problem solving abilities. 

  4. Have administrative and leadership abilities with attention to detail and organization. 

  5. Strong communication and listening skills.

  6. Sound judgment necessary to achieve goals without day to day supervision. 

  7. Job requires bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, stretching, reaching, pulling, ect. Must have the ability to lift 30-50 pounds. 

  8. Flexibility in all aspects of the job. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

High School diploma and some college or relatable experience.
