Compensation: $65.00 - $70.00 / Hour DOE

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The PRN Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) provides high-quality, patient-centered medical services on an as-needed basis to support clinic operations, provider coverage, and patient access to care. Responsibilities include conducting health assessments, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions, performing procedures within scope, and promoting health education in alignment with MedNOW Clinics’ mission and values.

PRN providers serve as supplemental clinical support and may be scheduled for planned shifts, emergent coverage, or high-volume needs. This role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to integrate quickly into varying clinic workflows. Providers work collaboratively with supervising physicians and multidisciplinary staff to ensure continuity and quality of care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct patient care, including histories, physical exams, diagnostic ordering/interpretation, prescribing, and referrals according to established guidelines.
  • Accurately and promptly document all encounters in the Electronic Health Record (Athena).
  • Educate patients on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and preventive care.
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians and colleagues on complex or scope-specific cases.
  • Maintain compliance with Quality Assurance (QA) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) practices, including participation in periodic reviews or training as schedule allows.
  • Deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to a diverse patient population.
  • Utilize MedNOW’s multimodal treatment approach as appropriate.
  • Maintain current medical knowledge through continuing education and professional development.

PRN SCOPE OF WORK

  • Provide shift coverage on an as-needed basis, including planned, same-day, or high-volume support.
  • Demonstrate the ability to integrate into clinic workflows efficiently without ongoing daily supervision.
  • Manage an appropriate patient caseload based on shift length and clinic needs (typical full-day reference range: 15–18 for 8-hour shifts; 19–23 for 10-hour shifts; prorated for shorter PRN shifts).
  • Complete encounter documentation and coding within 48 hours of each shift worked.
  • Maintain professionalism, integrity, and high clinical standards while representing MedNOW in each PRN assignment.
  • Maintain active licensure, certifications, credentials, and ensure timely renewal to remain eligible for PRN scheduling.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current and unrestricted Colorado NP or PA license and furnishing number.
  • Current DEA license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in family practice, internal medicine, or urgent care settings.
  • Strong knowledge of routine and chronic disease management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to varying clinic environments.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality of care, and adherence to MedNOW clinical standards.
