Plant Grower - Horticulture (NOC 80021)

Duties and Responsibilities

Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate greenhouse crop production operations

Develop crop production schedules based on seasonal and market demand

Select seeds, fertilizers, soil media, and pest control products

Monitor irrigation, lighting, temperature, and humidity controls in greenhouse environments

Implement integrated pest management (IPM) programs

Supervise, train, and schedule greenhouse workers

Maintain production and inventory records

Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards

Manage operational budgets and order supplies

Employment Requirements

University degree or diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, Plant Science, or related field
OR
Several years of experience in commercial greenhouse or agricultural operations

Minimum 2–4 years of progressive experience in crop production

Supervisory experience in an agricultural or greenhouse setting

Knowledge of greenhouse climate control systems and crop management techniques

Additional Information

Work is performed in greenhouse environments with varying temperatures and humidity levels

Ability to work extended hours during peak production seasons may be required
