South Shore Public Health Collaborative- Regional Public Social Worker
South Shore Public Health Collaborative Regional Public Social Worker, Full-time, 35 hours per week.
$80-$90k. The position is full-time and grant-funded through June 2027 with an anticipated extension through June 2030.
Position Overview:
The Regional Public Social Worker provides short-term counseling and case management services to adults ages 18–60 within the member communities of the South Shore Public Health Collaborative, including Cohasset, Scituate, and Hingham. The position addresses a range of needs such as mental health concerns, substance use, hoarding/clutter, veterans’ issues, and related challenges. Responsibilities include program development and implementation, delivery of clinical expertise, and coordination of services through partnerships with municipal departments, health agencies, and community organizations. The role requires effective communication, organization, and collaboration to engage diverse populations and support service delivery across multiple communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate and advise various local municipal government departments (including Elder Affairs, Public Health, Veterans’ Services, Police, and Fire) concerning resident’s mental and behavioral health needs.
- Identify high-risk populations and areas of growing public health needs in the region.
- Develop and facilitate educational and supportive programs on a variety of issues such as mental health, substance use, hoarding/clutter, veterans’ issues, etc.
- Provide Social Work Office Hours at various locations as needed.
- Research grant opportunities to support or expand social service programs within the SSPHC.
- Maintain appropriate and confidential departmental and program record in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Provide supervision and oversight of Social Work interns.
- Provide social work cross-coverage for communities in the SSPHC.
- Perform crisis intervention; provide short-term individual, family and group counseling.
- Provide individual and group clinical supervision and case conferences for current community social workers in the SSPHC as needed.
Provide case management services focusing primarily on a target population of 18-60 assess and refer individuals to mental health, medical, supportive, and protective services agencies as needed.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a specialization in social work and licensed as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the state of Massachusetts. The role requires at least five years of professional social work experience, and part‑time work, internships, and relevant volunteer experience may be applied toward meeting this requirement. Equivalent combinations of education and experience that demonstrate the necessary skills and competencies will also be considered.
Preffered Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in the delivery of clinical and social services, along with a strong track record of developing and facilitating programs that address mental health, substance use, hoarding or clutter challenges, veterans’ issues, and other related social service needs.
