Purchasing Agent/Analyst

The Purchasing Agent/Analyst reports to the Purchasing Manager and is responsible for working with suppliers, researching orders and demand for products, processing purchase orders, and verifying delivered items, running reports, analyzing data, and communicating with suppliers and 4 State Trucks internal staff about lead times. You will be liaising between internal departments and suppliers, analyzing and comparing product reports.

To be successful as a Purchasing Agent you should be able to critically assess supplier’s performance, products, and services, and assist to negotiate the best possible deals. Ultimately, an outstanding Purchasing Agent has a keen sense of business and has good organizational skills.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Purchasing Agent/Analyst Responsibilities:
  • Researching and comparing suppliers, goods, and services.
  • Evaluating the most suitable suppliers in terms of reliability, product quality, and cost-efficiency.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and determining purchase needs.
  • Preparing and processing purchase orders.
  • Maintaining records of all transactions, purchase orders, receipts, and payments.
  • Scheduling and verifying purchase deliveries and communicating proactively with vendors and internal staff on back orders and lead times.
  • Building and maintaining positive, long-term supplier relations.
  • Determining supply needs and researching potential suppliers.
  • Acting as a liaison and communicating pricing and performance needs to vendors and suppliers.
  • Assisting to source suppliers and compare product samples.
  • Preparing cost-benefit analysis reports for review by managers.
  • Negotiating favorable procurement agreements and performance with selected vendors and suppliers.
  • Work with Marketing to communicate purchasing changes that affect online product.
  • Monitoring the company's demand for products to avoid supply shortages using Sage Inventory Advisor
  • Keeping abreast of vendor and supplier-related activities in the industry.

 

Qualifications and Abilities:

·         Degree in business administration, procurement, or a related field preferred.

·         Previous experience as a Purchasing Agent or in a similar position.

·         Previous Experience with Global Sourcing is a Plus.

·         Proficiency in CRM and/or inventory management software programs.

·         Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

·         Strong organization and documentation skills.

·         Strong research and analytical skills with use of Excel and/or a database.
