Janitorial/Maintenance Team Member


General Purpose

The Facility Operations Team Member ensures cleanliness of the facility while delivering great customer service. To do so, he/she is responsible for ensuring the facility space is stocked with supplies, maintains consistent cleanliness, and is up to strict standards of presentation.

Position Summary

Maintains the indoor and outdoor premises of the building in a clean and orderly condition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - To include the following, but not limited to the following, and any other duties that may be needed or assigned

  • Clean and polish lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, metal workings and trim.
  • Clean rooms, hallways, lounges, corridors, employee break room and other work areas.
  • Responsible for deep cleaning restrooms and breakrooms.
  • Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floor. Potential operation of floor care equipment.
  • Dust furniture and equipment including high-low dusting.
  • Wash walls, ceiling, and woodwork as well as windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Empty and clean waste baskets other waste receptacles both indoor and outdoor. Assist in large trash removal based on facility needs and transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Replenish bathroom supplies.
  • Aid in minor maintenance duties such as replacing light bulbs, repairs, etc.
  • Provide exterior maintenance as needed up to but not limited to grass cutting, pressure washing, minor landscaping, etc.
  • Maintain and clear any debris and/or garbage in parking lots, walkways, entrances, etc.
  • Transport small equipment or tools between departments.
  • Provide set up and breakdown of events such as tables and chairs or office furniture.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by use of hand truck.

Education and/or Experience

High school education; or up to one (1) year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communication Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present      information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Customer Service Skills

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but noninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Positive attitude to promote successful team environment and strong work ethic and sense of integrity.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
