Personal Care Aide Responsibilities
As a Personal Care Aide, you will provide hands-on assistance and support to residents while promoting their independence, dignity, comfort, and quality of life.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene.
- Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and other daily needs as appropriate.
- Provide compassionate assistance while encouraging residents to maintain as much independence as possible.
- Observe residents and promptly report changes in physical, emotional, or psychosocial condition to the appropriate team member.
- Respond to resident requests for assistance in a timely and courteous manner.
- Assist with maintaining a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for residents.
- Monitor resident care supplies and notify appropriate team members when additional supplies are needed.
- Provide companionship and interact positively with residents throughout the day.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
- Follow all facility policies, safety procedures, infection prevention practices, and resident care standards.
- Work independently while contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Perform additional resident care duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
- Previous personal care, assisted living, senior living, home care, or healthcare experience preferred, but not required.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Compassionate and patient with a genuine interest in working with older adults.
- Dependable and committed to providing consistent, high-quality resident care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and resident dignity at all times.
