Cook Responsibilities

As a Dietary Aide, you will play an important role in ensuring residents receive nutritious, appetizing meals while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and cook meals, soups, side dishes, desserts, and beverages according to planned menus and physician-ordered therapeutic diets.
  • Ensure meals are prepared and served according to established recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
  • Monitor food temperatures throughout preparation, cooking, and service to ensure food safety compliance.
  • Prepare food in accordance with all food handling, sanitation, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with meal service to ensure residents receive meals accurately and on time.
  • Properly label, store, rotate, and dispose of food items using safe food handling practices.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, including cooking equipment, food preparation areas, dishes, utensils, and workstations.
  • Assist with receiving, stocking, rotating, and organizing food and kitchen supplies.
  • Work collaboratively with the Dietary Manager and dietary team to provide exceptional dining experiences for residents.
  • Follow all facility policies and procedures while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food safety, and sanitation practices preferred.
  • ServSafe certification is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong teamwork, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality meals and outstanding service to residents.
