JOB SUMMARY:  Identify and communicate to account officers, supervisor, and senior management the risks and opportunities present in new and/or existing commercial and retail loan relationships, and to assist management in reaching sound credit decisions in compliance with corporate policies.  In meeting this objective, the credit analyst will prepare comprehensive credit reports for lending officers or loan committees within specified time frames, and provide other assistance as requested by management.

Essential Job Functions:

• Develops credit information and presentation packages for use by lending officers and senior management in making lending decisions on new and existing relationships.  The analyst will:
• Use reasonable care and exercise diligence and thoroughness in reviewing all pertinent credit and financial information;
• Assist account officers on call as needed/requested;
• Determine the need for more thorough investigation or additional information and contact/consult appropriate sources for such     information, including borrower and/or accountant;
• Analyze financial statements and related material, both quantitatively and qualitatively, prepare spreadsheets, charts, graphs, and any other relevant material to convey credit analysis to   the appropriate audience;
• Prepare written summaries and present facts concerning credit worthiness for various audiences, including but not limited to:
• credit investigation of the borrower and guarantors;
• review of economic and market conditions as they relate to the company, industry, and market area;
• in-depth historical (projection, if required) financial analysis, including the performance of “what if/stress test” scenarios for sensitivity;
• in-depth analysis of the secondary sources of repayment such as collateral;
• in-depth analysis of all guarantor financial positions.
• Establishes a reasonable and adequate basis, supported by appropriate research and investigation, for all recommendations pertaining to credits analyzed.  Maintains appropriate records   to support reasonableness of such recommendations.
• Periodically reviews current accounts, watching for any developing problems and keeping lending officers informed.  Will also conduct full reviews of relationships as part of the assigned   credit analysis.
• Develops and maintains a personal program for maintaining an adequate level of knowledge in banking, financial, and accounting practices.
• Demonstrates appropriate personal and interpersonal behavior, attitude, judgment, communication, and initiative with customers and employees in order to ensure the highest level of   professionalism and promote team spirit throughout the bank.
• Preservation of confidentiality of information communicated received from and communicated by clients, prospects, and employer within the scope of the client-employee, prospect-  employee, and employer-employee relationship unless the employee receives information concerning illegal activities on the part of the client, prospect, or employer.
• Ability to accept/complete a myriad of responsibilities of the department, including but not limited to, loan review, portfolio, account, and collateral management, asset-based lending,   minute recording, file/queue preparation, and reporting.
• Perform other job duties and assist the Credit Analysis Manager as required.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Sufficient accounting and business coursework, supplemented by appropriate knowledge of commercial lending and financial analysis, or equivalent work experience. (MBA preferred    and/or Finance degree major. Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field*).
• Ability to prioritize and organize work, complete tasks on time, and motivation to take on additional work as needed and self-initiated.
• Gain complete familiarity with the Bank’s lending and credit policies and guidelines, in order to provide the highest quality of service to customers and to safeguard the Bank’s position.
• Ability to develop financial projections including balance sheets, income and cash flow statements
• Excellent communication skills – both oral and written.
• Excellent PC skills including, Microsoft Office (heavy emphasis on Excel, including formulas and functions), specialized credit analysis packages, web based workflow tools, and Adobe    Acrobat (full).
• High level of analytical ability to synthesize complex relationships and determine relevant credit risks.
• Ability to work well under pressure, and work efficiently and timely in a deadline driven environment, which often includes effective multi-tasking.
• A high degree of professionalism and discretion to review and maintain confidential financial and credit information.
