Prototype Team Leader

Position Summary:   Member of Engineering Department with the responsibility for construction of prototype marine accessories, which meet or exceed customer and corporate expectations.

Regular Hours: Monday - Thursday, 6:00am - 4:30pm. Must be available to work overtime and Fridays as needed.

 Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Fabricates prototype marine accessories.
• Fabricates tooling to produce marine accessories
• Adheres to departmental policies and procedures which conform to company policies.
• Aids in the development of all safety and housekeeping policies and procedures.
• Assists in the development of and participates in the implementation of continuous improvement projects.
• Performs testing, accumulates data, and ensures product meets customer and/or industry safety standards prior to manufacture and shipping of production product.
• Assure achievement of the production schedule by providing technical support.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

 Job Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• TechnicalSchool degree in welding and metal fabrication preferred.
• Two years’ experience in a manufacturing or technical environment preferred.
• Two years’ experience steel MIG and aluminum TIG welding preferred
• 2+ years of Management and or Supervision of a team of direct reports preferred
• Strong communication, problem solving, planning, and organizing required.
• Knowledge of engineering and technical principles.
• Ability to participate in team projects and meetings.
• Computer knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred
• Review and interpret prints.

Conditions and Equipment:

• Standard plant environment must be able to work in extreme heat.
• Medium physical demands must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently to move objects.
• Need to have the stamina to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Will use a variety of hand tools, metal fabricating tools, TIG welding, and cut-off saws.
