Community Group Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

The Community Group Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the health and pastoral care of Adult Community Groups (Married Couples, Men, Young Adults, & Co-Ed Singles) by intentionally investing in the development and equipping of group leaders and coaches.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  •  Oversee & shepherd the spiritual health and vitality of 60 Adult Community Groups
  • Cultivate a relationship with each Community Group Leader, serving as the primary staff contact for their group
  • Recruit and develop spiritually mature Coaches to help oversee, care, and shepherd existing groups
  • Equip and develop each leader and apprentice to effectively live out our “Up, In, & Out” ministry rhythms within their groups
  • Help leaders evaluate group health and effectiveness annually through the Community Group Health Assessment
  • Lead, plan, and assist in various leader and group training events throughout the year (Leader Track 101 & 201, Online Leader Training, and others)
  • Assist Group Link ministry to form new groups and identify/train new leaders
  • Instill a pastoral mindset in each group that every member is a minister, as they seek to shepherd one another
  • Be available to minister to and serve each leader as larger issues arise
  • Provide pastoral care and biblical counsel to groups, in areas where they need direction or may feel ill-equipped
  • Periodically be available after regular work hours when time-sensitive or urgent pastoral care needs arise (phone calls, hospital visits, etc.)
  • Help identify leader apprentices within existing groups to be developed for the next generation of leadership
  • Regularly celebrate & capture stories of life-change happening within groups
  • Maintain the accuracy of leader and group data in our systems (Rock, Smartsheets)
  • Periodically serve in church-wide events including special holiday weekend services and CBC Cares
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Slides) or Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)

  • Must be forward-thinking and anticipate the needs of others

  • A shepherd, ready to walk into pastoral care situations with compassion, discernment, biblical counsel, and wisdom

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a regular full-time position (36-40 hrs) Sunday-Thursday. Occasional night and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following:

  • Must have good or corrected vision as well as effective peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use repetitive motion of the hands and arms
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to move about inside the office and file rooms to perform a variety of tasks
  • Must be able to frequently and effectively communicate in both written and verbal form
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 10-75 pounds and/or push/pull objects up to 50 pounds
  • Occasional events/activities outdoors in the heat, occasional events/activities requiring prolonged standing
  • Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school education, GED, or equivalent experience required. Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred
  • Previous experience working or volunteering in small groups ministry, preferably in a large church environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duties are performed in a variety of settings to include, outside, office and technical settings where the work and general environment may be fast-paced and hectic at times. Therefore, it is essential that the employee can effectively handle the normal anxieties associated with the job and manage multiple projects in service-oriented environment. Environmental noise levels are minimal.
