PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Human Resource Coordinator provides support to the Human Resources Team including Director and HR Advisors in the areas of recruitment and selection, benefits, performance management tracking, occupational health and safety, delegation training coordination, utilizing an HRIS system, onboarding for new employees as well as administrative supports. This position will also provide support for the HR Administrative Associate in their absence. Some of the key duties and responsibilities of this role include:

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing technical support to the agency HRIS system and data management systems including entry, verification, management, and timely reporting of data.
  • Benefits management assistance including completion of application and change forms for benefits as well as forms for Early Intervention, Long Term Disability, WorkSafeBC and Maternity Leave benefits.
  • Recruitment and Selection support including assistance with hiring processes including reference checking, testing, education, and criminal record check verifications as well as opening and closing competitions.
  • Monthly, annual, and ad hoc staffing reports, statistics, and demographics.
  • Onboarding and offboarding of staff
  • Administering and tracking performance management and leave of absence information.
  • Coordinating registrations, applications, requests, bookings for delegation training for staff.
  • Providing administrative support to the Human Resources team.
  • Responding to routine questions regarding the Collective Agreement and internal policies and procedures.
  • Coordination of employee files, moving documents off site and disposing of documentation.
  • Coordination of the Living A Healthy Aboriginal Lifestyle (LAHAL) wellness program for Staff.
  • Assistance with updating HR’s portion of the Intranet in consultation with the HR Team.
  • Maintaining own technical procedures manual.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement for HR and own procedures, processes, and guidelines.
  • Active participation with Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
  • May be assigned projects and other work that fall within their scope of education and experience.
The successful candidate will have:
  • Strong interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
  • Strong technical writing abilities and knowledge of Excel.
  • General understanding of all relevant legislation including Human Rights legislation, the Labour Relations Code, the Employment Standards Act and Workers Compensation Act.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of an organization including Senior Management and Executive.
  • Experience working with an Indigenous organization, community and or nonprofit organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BBA, or related degree, or a BA in a related field; and
  • 2 years of experience related to Human Resources functions.
  • Proficient with MS Office/Microsoft 365 and standard office equipment
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple competing priorities
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Working within a unionized environment is preferred
  • Working towards CPHR is preferred
