Summary


Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Medical Care Facility Administrator is responsible and accountable for all activities and departments related to the daily skilled nursing facility operations. Maintains compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulations, including Michigan’s Open Meetings Act, ensuring that all organizational policies and procedures meet regulatory standards. May exercise both direct and indirect oversight for employees involved in the skilled nursing facility operations.


Job Duties and Responsibilities


1. Support the mission of Grand Traverse Pavilions, providing a continuum of health care and residential services that are community-based and focused. Assess and adapt to evolving healthcare industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices, including the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) philosophy of the organization.


2. Consistently demonstrates a high degree of emotional intelligence and ethical standards, including leading with transparency, accountability, respect and fairness and acting with integrity to foster a safe and reliable workplace. 

3. Hands-on leadership style that develops meaningful relationships with the healthcare team.

4. Maintain strict confidence regarding content and/or discussion related to records and information of constituencies.

5. Promote environmental safety through compliance with the organization’s safety policies and procedures.

6. Advise and assist the Chief Executive Officer with operations, administration and planning.  


7. Ensure survey/accreditation readiness and comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Ensure that licensure(s)/certification(s) are maintained in areas assigned, with the goal of above average compliance reviews from licensing and accreditation agencies.


8. Ensure that systems are in place to minimize the potential of non-compliance areas through a comprehensive quality assurance program.


9. Ensure to the greatest extent possible that constituent rights are maintained and needs are met.

10. Implement and research projects to prevent/resolve operational problems and develop recommendations to improve operational performance.

11. May participate in labor relations activities including collective bargaining and grievance resolution.

12. Ensure that budgetary goals are met in all areas assigned. 

13. Prepare reports in a timely and efficient manner as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.


14. Represent the organization at various meetings.



15. Supervise departments as assigned.



Qualifications


Education: Bachelor’s degree in health services management or related field, master’s degree preferred.

Licensure: Must possess a valid Michigan Nursing Home Administrator's license.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of executive leadership experience in healthcare, senior living or a related environment, with demonstrated success in operational management.

Healthcare Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state and local healthcare regulations. 

Financial Competency: Proven experience in financial management, budgeting and reimbursement models within a healthcare or long-term care setting.

Leadership Skills: Strong interpersonal communication and leadership abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to sit for extended periods while performing administrative duties.

Frequent use of a computer, including typing and screen-based work.

Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 25 pounds.
