  • You must have at least 3 years of personnel management experience in an equipment rental, waste management, or construction site management setting.

  • You must have at least 2 years of experience working quickly and precisely in dispatching software, equipment rental software and/or CRM software.

  • Applicants with a CDL-A or CDL-B license will be given top priority.

Who You’d Be Working With

A team of 4-6 commercial drivers will report to you. You are the first point of escalation for schedule issues and driver problems. You report directly to the President and will sit on the Leadership team. 

How You’ll Work at Captain Hook

Responsibility and Empowerment

You are responsible for the day-to-day management of our Drivers and our Dumpster Rental Process for both our Austin and San Marcos/New Braunfels locations. This includes responsibility for hiring, firing, rewarding, and retaining our commercial drivers. It includes using software to assign daily routes and overseeing drivers as they execute those routes, including occasional customer escalations. It also includes executing daily and weekly closing routines and making sure the facilities the drivers use are maintained and stocked. 

Because this is a multi-location position, you must possess the ability to work independently. This includes problem-solving and initiative!


It’s critical that our drivers are happy, focused, and productive and that requires a hands-on / eyes-on approach. This means that you must be onsite at each location a minimum of once per week, paying particular attention to observing start-of-day and end-of-day processes. Since our San Marcos/New Braunfels location is new, that may mean initially working partly from home, so you must have an appropriate space to work and reliable internet at your home. 

Day in the Life

You will welcome your drivers at 7 AM M-F and provide oversight and assistance for their pre-trip equipment inspections as well as conducting once-weekly team meetings. Once the drivers are off on their routes (that you will have assigned the previous day), you will ensure all office maintenance tasks are handled. 

During the day you will manage any route additions/cancellations and any escalations. You will have weekly video-based meetings with the Leadership team as well as regular communication via chat, phone, and video conference with colleagues throughout the day.

At the end of the day, you will sign off on completed routes, construct the next days’ routes, ensure all rents due are properly charged, and ensure post-trip inspections are performed by the drivers. When things are running smoothly, we typically work 40 hours a week. There are occasions when external demands push us outside normal business hours.


Compensation starts at $60k per year, plus quarterly bonuses tied to performance and overall profitability. You will be eligible for both paid time off and paid holidays. We also offer great medical and dental insurance plans. 

Compensation for candidates with a valid CDL-A or CDL-B will start at $70k per year and candidates will be expected to assist in occasionally ferrying equipment to and from repair and storage sites as well as jumping in to fill driver absences on the rare occasions when high demand warrants it.
