The proudly independent, digital-only Village Media network is searching for a talented Editor to fill a full-time position in Kitchener-Waterloo!

You are committed to understanding the community you serve and the issues it faces, and to guiding your newsroom to confront those issues through a solutions journalism approach.

Your Skills are Learned and Earned

Your commitment to fairness, accuracy, transparency and impeccable journalism ethics comes from education and real world experience. To start, you have a bachelor’s degree or diploma in Journalism, or a related field. You have experience in a newsroom setting. You have exceptional writing and editing skills and a thorough knowledge of CP style. You will have the ability to build strong relationships with those inside our Village and within the communities we serve. Familiarity with Kitchener-Waterloo (K-W) is a must!

Your Responsibilities

• Lead an editorial team in Kitchener-Waterloo

• Guide and develop a skilled team of writers and editors

• Ensure all content is impeccable and exercise excellent editorial judgment

• Demonstrate comprehensive community coverage

You will need to have a valid driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle. The successful candidate must live in or near Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000
