Summary: The Director of Software Engineering is a hands-on, leader in Software Engineering, focused on creating innovative technology in an organization with a vision of delivering high-quality software in a predictable, repeatable, and sustainable manner.
Participates in the hiring and training of new hires.
Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of development team.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the onshore and offshore Agile development team building the next generation of our SaaS platform.
Provide technical, project, and team leadership as needed for the development team
Mentor and manage the team while helping it grow
Collaborate with the team to make and implement architecture decisions
Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance
Help translate business goals into actionable code
Create a common UI component code library, ensure that it is properly kept up to date, is added to as the project continues and ensure that it is reused properly to ensure faster times to market
Set and meet Strategic and Tactical development and architecture goals
Help contribute to the codebase directly as this is at least a partially hands on position
Proven experience in, and passion for, leading teams, mentoring staff, and driving organizational change
Proven record for problem resolution and successful completion of complex projects on time
Knowledge of frameworks like React a definite plus.

Education and Experience:
BS in Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant STEM degree, Masters preferred
A minimum of 10+ years of progressive responsibilities in software development
At least 5+ years managing Agile software development teams.
Significant experience managing both onshore and offshore development teams specializing in client side, server side, and database programming languages.
Experience in an Agile environment and iterative development process
Deep experience in the software development life cycle best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, QA, Database architecture, build processes, testing, deployment, and the related operational processes
Extensive experience with at least 3 of the following technologies:
- .NET /JAVA/Python/Node.js
- XML (Web Services)
- Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL
Track record of delivering SaaS applications on Azure or AWS platforms
Experience in the Health Care industry is a plus.
Deep knowledge of SaaS platforms
Strong knowledge of and experience with database design, stored procedures, functions, triggers etc.
Extensive knowledge of performance tuning tools and methodologies
Knowledge of Windows Server technologies
