Reports to:           Programming Manager, Cinema; Programming Specialist, Experiential & Comedy

Position Overview:

Assists the Programming team in running comedy shows, movie screenings, experiential events, and any other programming as needed.

 

Job Responsibilities:

CINEMA

  • Responsible for digital projection of feature and repertory films, as follows:
    • Set up and adjust picture projectors and screens to achieve proper size, illumination, and focus of images, and proper volume and tone of sound.
    • Monitor operations to ensure that standards for sound and image projection quality are met.
    • Observe projector operation in order to anticipate need to transfer operations from one projector to another.
    • Start projectors and open shutters to project images onto screens.
  • Must have ability to speak in front of audiences with ease.
  • Must be able to effectively and efficiently promote upcoming programming in front of an audience.
  • Expected to attend all Cinema Committee meetings, reserve space for them on campus ahead of time, take notes at the meetings, and communicate them to the Committee afterward in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the timely updating of the Cinema phone as per the instructions of the Programming Manager, Cinema.
  • Responsible for the efficient cataloging of movie posters sent to the organization.

 

COMEDY

  • Works with the Comedy staff to effectively and efficiently run the lights, sound, and any other pertinent audio/video needs for comedy shows to the specifications set forth by the Sr. Director of Programming and/or the Programming Specialist, Experiential & Comedy.
  • Expected to attend all Comedy Committee meetings, reserve space for them on campus ahead of time, take notes at the meetings, and communicate them to the Committee afterward in a timely manner.
  • Assists the Comedy staff in maintaining the database of comedy class students.

 

EXPERIENTIAL

  • Assist the Sr. Director of Programming and/or Programming Specialist, Experiential & Comedy to guarantee the smooth production of various experiential events.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Must be available to work Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings each week; ability to work flexible hours including as many as 4 evenings per week, weekends and holidays, when necessary.
  • Hearing and listening skills must be of a level that is able to recognize differentiations in a soundtrack or film picture.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Programs, such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook. 
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite is a plus, but not required.
  • Previous projectionist work, comedy performance/production, and/or filmmaking experiences a plus, but not required.
  • Excellent eyesight and manual dexterity.
  • Excellent customer service skills; must be a very good communicator and have the ability to work with guests, clients, and other team members.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical school training, Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in related field a plus.
  • Ability to problem-solve and trouble-shoot and identify potential problems and report them to technical staff.
  • Must be very self motivated, energetic and flexible.
  • Must be an excellent manager of time and priorities.
  • Ability to take and give direction in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Must be able to process information quickly and stay organized.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally, with or without assistance.
  • Ability to work overtime when required or needed.
  • Must be willing to do what it takes to get the job done!

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to lift up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 25 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Employee is frequently required to travel between our facilities, all within 1 mile of one another using reliable transportation as well as to meet with potential donors. Employee may be frequently required to travel offsite for business meetings as needed.

Working Conditions:

Working sometimes long and unusual hours especially during festivals and events, including evenings, weekends, and holidays is common

  • Hours of operation can vary dependent on scheduled festivals and events.
  • Workplace can include an office environment indoors year-round and outside during festivals and events when needed.
