Senior Library Assistant (Part-Time) – Circulation

The Town of Hopkinton is seeking a friendly, service-minded Senior Library Assistant to join our team. This part-time position is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people, thrives in a collaborative environment, and takes pride in providing excellent customer service.

Senior Library Assistant - Circulation

Anticipated Hourly rate: $22.26  (Dependent Upon Qualifications)


Hours: 19 hours per week


Scheduled Hours:


Sunday: 11:30 AM – 4:00 PM; Monday: 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM; Thursday: 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM;

and Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM


Additional hours may be available to cover open shifts when substitutes are unavailable.


The Senior Library Assistant performs advanced administrative and clerical work in support of daily library operations while delivering excellent customer service to patrons. This role requires tact, discretion, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a flexible, team-oriented environment.

What You'll Do
  • Provide outstanding customer service to library patrons
  • Assist with circulation services, including checking materials in and out
  • Issue library cards and assist patrons with account questions
  • Help patrons locate materials and access library resources
  • Support daily library operations and special projects
  • Open and close the library as assigned
  • Work collaboratively with library staff to create a welcoming environment for all patrons
Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Three (3) or more years of customer service experience within a public library preferred, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Associate's Degree or library coursework preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
