Position Summary
The Sculpture Garden Coordinator is a visitor service-oriented, multi-faceted role responsible for the daily supervision of Sculpture Garden Attendants (SGAs), administrative support, and facility oversight within the Sculpture Garden. This position provides operational assistance to the Sculpture Garden Manager and helps ensure an exceptional visitor experience through effective team leadership, organization, and maintenance support.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional visitor experiences through excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Provide guidance and supervision to Sculpture Garden Attendants during designated shifts
- Assist the Sculpture Garden Manager with daily administrative tasks
- Develop and complete special projects assigned by supervisor
- Monitor office volunteers and address questions or concerns
- Assist in developing and supporting Sculpture Garden programming and events
- Coordinate recurring horticultural volunteers and group service days
- Identify and report facility irregularities including fire hazards, leaks, unsecured doors/windows, and safety concerns
- Monitor restroom cleanliness, trash bins, and safety supply inventory
- Enforce museum policies in a friendly and professional manner
- Restock supplies, visitor guides, and store merchandise as needed
- Write incident reports for damages, accidents, or injuries
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience
- Interest in visual arts and museum work
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and patience when interacting with the public
- Ability to represent the museum with integrity, ethics, and professionalism
- Commitment to supporting museum policies and management decisions positively
- Interest in art and art history with willingness to learn about exhibitions, collections, and programming
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve conflicts tactfully
- Strong communication skills with diverse audiences of all ages and backgrounds
- Ability to enforce policies assertively while maintaining professionalism
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, artists, donors, volunteers, and the public
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to stand and remain on feet for the duration of a shift
- Extensive physical mobility, including patrolling multiple gallery posts
- Ability to assist staff and visitors in emergency situations
- Must communicate clearly verbally and via radio
- Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor temperatures
