Cooking and Nutrition Instructor
Responsibilities and Administrative duties:
-Ensure that program meets all Food program and health sanitation guidelines.
-Coordinate food preparation for all program events and trips including day trips and camping trips.
-To facilitate partnerships with Ampersea and other local restaurants.
-Coordinate Daily Recreation Activities; plan activities, purchase and managing recreation equipment and setting up recreation equipment daily.
-To assist in the coordination of all events and activities including: the BUGS Expo, Parent Events, and Farmer’s Market.
-Actively contribute to the BUGS Blog and to coordinate field trips to local farms.
- Work with Program Manager to create engaging and meaningful lesson plans for each two-week session that provides opportunities for skill mastery and social and academic enrichment and follow the approved lesson plan format.
-To provide good classroom management by holding student accountable for their behavior and consistent and creative usage of positive behavior management techniques including BUG BUCKS system.
-To assist the program and its participant in meeting all program goals including academic and social skills improvement, attendance, and family partnership.
-To provide teacher and student assistance in the classroom at Commodore John Rodgers Elementary school a minimum of one morning per week.
-To create and maintain a positive, child-friendly classroom environment for students that is clean, supplies are accessible, and is conducive to hands-on learning.
-To
purchase supplies within monthly component budget and maintain a monthly
expense log.
-To transport students home daily on the bus and clean out vehicles on a regular basis.
-To participate in an overnight camping experience at Camp
Puh’tok in Monkton, MD.
-To participate in Saturday programming such as the Annual BUGS Farmer’s Market.
-To communicate with parents on a regular basis regarding student achievement, behavior, program activities and upcoming events.
-To partner, specifically, with the Gardening and Environment Educator to create lesson plans that utilizes much of the produce grown in the BUGS Garden and Greenhouse.
