Western Bioregions Team Leader
Biohabitats is seeking a Bioregion Team Leader that will play a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive and engaged work environment, developing business, and ensuring successful project delivery in our Western Bioregions.
The ideal candidate will have advanced training and consulting experience in core discipline(s) relevant to landscape ecology and water resources within the diverse western U.S. ecosystems, ranging from rural to urban settings. They will also have the ability and desire to lead, coach, and mentor others; facilitate relationships; and connect team members to project and learning opportunities. Finally, they will have a passion for ecological stewardship, foundational to thriving within a purpose-driven organization.

Role and Responsibilities
- Project Delivery - Lead, provide technical oversight on, and support a range of projects that both relate to their areas of expertise and offer them growth opportunities.
- People & Culture - Lead, mentor, and advocate for team members within the Bioregion. Support the employee life cycle process, including recruiting, hiring, and performance reviews.
- Business Development & Marketing - Lead development and implementation of Bioregion-specific annual business development efforts. Engage team members within the Bioregion to lead and support business development efforts.
- Proposal Delivery - Conduct initial review of opportunities and engage appropriate team members to lead and support proposals. Lead and support a range of proposals that both relate to their areas of expertise and offer them growth opportunities.
- Business Operations - Lead workload forecasting and management for the Bioregion. Review and interpret monthly financial statements, key performance indicators, and other Bioregion performance reporting. Serve as liaison to the Business Operations Team to ensure Bioregion team members and office needs are met.
Required Qualities, Experience, and Knowledge
- Ability and desire to lead, coach, and mentor others; facilitate relationships; and connect team members to project and learning opportunities.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Experience managing projects of varying sizes and complexities at an environmental/ engineering/ landscape architecture consulting firm within the last 10 years.
- Experience participating in all aspects of project delivery including client relations, planning, assessments, design development, permitting, construction-phase services, and monitoring.
- Applied experience and demonstrated excellence in regenerative water systems, nature-based design, climate resilience, and/ or ecological restoration.
- Experience developing proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates.
- Demonstrated business development and professional networking experience throughout the western United States.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative, team environment.
- Willingness to travel throughout the western United States.

Helpful Qualities, Experience, and Knowledge
- Experience in public speaking and community engagement including support of historically underserved communities.
- Experience or familiarity with Living Building Challenge, SITES, and LEED.
- Project experience related to Indigenous communities and environmental justice.
- Experience developing near-term and long-term workload and revenue forecasts.
- Experience building and/ or leading a regional team.
Education
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant engineering field (e.g., civil, environmental, ecological engineering, etc.), landscape architecture, or relevant science field (e.g., restoration ecology, fluvial geomorphology, conservation biology, etc.)
Licensure
Licensure or certification as appropriate (e.g., Professional Engineer, Professional Landscape Architect, Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner, etc.)
Years of Relevant Experience
10+ years of applied experience in regenerative water systems, nature-based design, and/or ecological restoration, with at least five years of project management experience.
Salary Range
$125,000 - $145,000, commensurate with experience and dependent on location.
Location
Denver, CO or Santa Fe, NM. Other locations may be considered.
