We are looking for a Geotechnical Department Manager to join our Springfield, MO team.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of geotechnical engineers, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Manage geotechnical projects, including proposal preparation, contract negotiations, and project execution, to ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Oversee the technical aspects of geotechnical engineering projects, including geotechnical analysis, calculations, and reporting, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of deliverables.
  • Conduct regular project reviews to assess progress, identify potential risks or issues, and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Mentor and develop geotechnical engineers, providing technical guidance, training, and professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Collaborate with other departments and project teams to integrate geotechnical considerations into multidisciplinary projects, ensuring seamless coordination and effective communication.
  • Monitor industry trends, advancements, and regulatory changes related to geotechnical engineering, and incorporate best practices into department processes and procedures.
  • Foster client relationships, actively participating in business development activities, including client meetings, presentations, and proposal development, to secure new projects and expand the company's geotechnical services.
  • Participate in industry conferences, seminars, and professional organizations to stay informed about emerging trends and network with industry peers.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, codes, and regulations, and promote a strong culture of safety within the department.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute departmental goals, objectives, and strategic initiatives, aligned with the overall company vision and mission.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. 
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license required.
  • 10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong background in geotechnical analysis, design, and project management.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with previous experience managing and developing a team of geotechnical engineers.
  • In-depth knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, practices, and industry standards.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritize multiple projects and resources.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Business acumen and a customer-focused mindset, with a track record of successfully growing client relationships and securing new business opportunities.
  • Familiarity with relevant geotechnical software and design tools.
  • Strong commitment to safety and the promotion of a safe work environment.
  • A drive for continuous improvement and innovation, seeking opportunities to enhance departmental processes and performance.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
