St. James Parish Government is hiring for the position of Case Manager in the Department of Human Resources.

JOB FUNCTION:  This is an administrative level position with responsibility for planning, monitoring and supervising the delivery of services for residents of St. James Parish.  The Case Manager holds a position of responsibility where public funds are involved.  The Case Manager shall have the ability to direct and facilitate the provision of services in accordance with federal, state and parish laws, regulations and policies. This position is classified as essential during declared emergencies or natural disasters and exempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Acts.

 ESSESNTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Assess job skills for the clients and develop job readiness case plans

·         Monitor and evaluate services on an on-going basis according to policy

·         Assist with budget preparations, grant applications, and reporting for career services funders

·         Review and certify program reports and forward to the proper authority

·         Review and certify client applicant

·         Approve career services expenditures

·         Attend staff meeting, council meetings, training, and conferences as required

·         Collaborate with companies, program and other agencies to employ or ensure job readiness of participants

·         Maintain appropriate case files and keep accurate records

·         Perform special and related duties or assignment as requested

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  A college degree is preferred, but not necessary.  A minimum of five years of relative work experience, and a high school diploma can be substituted.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ration and percentages.  Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed oral and written communication.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  To perform job successfully, an individual should exercise great judgement, demonstrate good decision-making and follow established chain of command.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
