Director of Influencer Marketing

The Director of Influencer Marketing is responsible for leading overall influencer strategy, campaign and influencer team management along with influencer network development for August United. This position also plays an integral role in client relationship building and driving growth in existing client business. 

You will be highly attuned to the influencer marketing space, where it has been, where it is now and you will have strategic thoughts on where it is going next. You will be responsible for leading the charge on setting industry-leading influencer marketing strategies for challenger brands across the globe. This means you are a creative thinker, an incredible presenter, and a dynamic relationship builder. You will have deep experience in all aspects of influencer marketing including creative campaign and program ideation, client-facing presentation deck creation, data-driven influencer identification, time-honed negotiation skills with creators, vendors, and talent managers, disclosure compliance, in-person experiential event execution, story-driven report building and overall client relationship skills. You likely have experience with various influencer management tools and a deep experience in understanding marketing analytics and KPI’s. 

You have a passion for the influencer marketing space, love building and maintaining relationships with key creators, managers and platform representatives. You understand how to turn those relationships into successful activations that drive influencer, content, experiential and social outcomes for our client base.

The role comes with a high level of autonomy and will be responsible for leading the strategic growth of our influencer marketing team.

  • Experience in leading both small and large-scale influencer activations from strategy through execution

  • Experience in building strong client relationships that drive business growth.

  • Acutely aware of cultural and social platform nuances, payment and procurement policies, and management logistics

  • Experience in influencer talent social analytics related to selection and evaluation

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Strong writing skills and the ability to create social playbooks for clients and Influencers

  • Experience buying/managing talent/content in the digital space and interacting with brands, agencies, MCNs, influencers

  • Strong relationships with top influencers, talent representation, and digital/social networks

  • Relevant experience across key social media properties including, but not limited to, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Reddit, Twitch, blogs, etc.

  • Experience in digital marketing, public relations and/or influencer talent management

  • Content distribution expertise spanning owned, earned, and paid digital channels

  • An understanding of key analytics tools (i.e. Facebook Insights, YouTube Analytics)

  • An ability to juggle scope and resources to meet deadlines consistently

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Experience managing a diverse team

  • Helps lead influencer marketing thought and strategy for the agency, including staying on top of influencer marketing trends and major industry shifts 

  • Provides management oversight and support to influencer relationship team of managers and coordinators

  • Leads key influencer negotiations and... 

  • Reviews and analyzes influencer marketing team performance against objectives and provides weekly guidance and analysis to senior leadership

  • Is obsessive about finding unique way to utilize influencer marketing and emerging channels to solve marketing challenges effectively

Supervisory Responsibility

This position requires management oversight of influencer relationship management team members.


This position requires travel up to 25%, mostly domestic. Out-of-state and overnight travel is occasionally expected.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field.

5+ years digital marketing agency experience  

3+ years management experience 


Preferred Experience

3+ years of proven influencer marketing experience.

5+ years management experience, particularly leading digital marketing teams
