Summer Co-op Construction Management

Job Title: Summer Co-Op

Department:  Building Services

Reports To:  Individual to report to COO and Lakeside Development Administrator

Start Date:  May 1, 2023

Salary:  $19 per hour plus season and car pass.                    

 

Position Summary: This position intends to fill a college Co-Op requirement for a Construction Management and/or Architect Major.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Learning Objectives: (To include other duties that may be assigned.)

Commencing with a template created by Schooley Caldwell in 2018, each building identified in that document shall be visited.

·         Status of the Schooley Caldwell recommend improvements will be noted.

·         Status of continued need will be noted.

·         Status of any new degradation or maintenance needs will be noted.

·         A timeline for urgency for each project will be noted (estimate).

Recording of the status will be done via two methods:

§  A written record with pictures shall be captured similar to the format used by Schooley Caldwell or in a similar format such as PowerPoint or Word.

§  A spreadsheet (existing) shall be updated such that the Intern or management can identify a date for a planned work order

§  An estimate of cost will be provided to the best of ability or as a SWAG that management can adjust upon future bids or estimates.

§  The Intern may suggest improvements to the data collection and reporting method.

§  The ultimate goal is to have the data accessible in a database. (Possible 2024 work).

The database will track the inspection and recommendation.

The database will also be used to track bids, work orders and completions.

The database can be sued to put historic artifacts about a building into the building tags such that any known work shall be searchable.

 

Tools included to do the job (provided by Lakeside):

·         Laptop Computer

·         Tape Measures (25’ and 100’)

·         Incidental hand tools for possible inspection:

·         Voltage tester

·         Screwdriver

·         Hammer

·         Any required as determined by Intern

·         Possible use of Maintenance Golf Cart   

·         Master Key

·         Tools provided by Intern:

o   Cell phone for camera use or digital camera

 

 

 

 

Education and/or Experience:

 

Rising junior in pursuit of or obtained Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management and Architecture or related field preferred.  Construction management on-the- job experience a plus
