AmeriCorps, Mentoring - Ripple Community, Inc. - 25 hours/week - 18 month service term
Do you have a passion to work with youth? Are you seeking an opportunity to utilize your employment and/or educational background in a community based non-profit setting?
If you answered yes to either (or both) of these questions, AmeriCorps Mentoring may be the opportunity you have been looking for.
RCI serves people experiencing homelessness or housing instability, people who are socially isolated, people living with significant histories of trauma and mental illness, and the working poor. While all our programs strengthen the community and assist individuals in addressing the causes and consequences of poverty, these goals are perhaps most clearly illustrated through our housing program, the RCI Village. This program supports economic mobility for low-income households by providing deeply affordable housing that allows families to meet their other basic needs and begin to build wealth. The overall goal of the RCI Village housing program is to support individuals and families in moving into and maintaining stable housing, which is a critical foundation for stability and success in all other areas of life. The RCI Village program combines safe, healthy, and deeply affordable housing with evidence-based supports, including one-on-one support from RCI staff, partnerships with local social service organizations, and community-building activities, such as resident dinners and events.
An AmeriCorps member would be engaged in activities related to expanding the hours of our Service Hub and the availability and accessibility of services, and would improve our ability to successfully connect community members to critical services and resources.
Mentors earn a living stipend while serving and may be eligible for a education award at the end of successful service.
